I see Hudson Fasching called up today. Last game he played for the Sabres was Oct 30th

I'm talking about the fact that they proved they can win or contend before they locked 50 million into their core long term.

I think your theory has a faulty premise

When Kane & Toews, etc were paid is inconsequential...
what mattered is that they were the RIGHT players

So the argument should just be about whether Kane (or anyone else) is a player that's gonna help us win to the point that we can be contenders

For example...
Franson- obviously we don't need to pay him, he's average at best
Jack- of course we extend him, he's awesome

But we can't NOT spend $$$ on players just bc the current construct of the group hasn't "won anything yet"

We just have to make sure we spend the $$$ on the right guys

I don't know to be honest. I do know that Jack and Sam will get paid, and then finding defense would be the #1 priority.

Kane can wait. There should be 0 rush extending him. I'd explore what he wants, if it's 6-8 years, I'm seeing what he gets back in a trade.

At least if you add a D man you have to pay, you are somewhat balanced instead of investing in 5 big $$ forwards while the D is atrocious

Well, it's gulyás(ghoul-yash). And it's traditionally from Hungary, capital is Budapest(buddha-pesht). Fun fact(s), it's actually 2 cities, Buda and Pest, split in the middle by the Danube river. The Romans knew it as Aquincum. The language spoken, Magyar, is closer to Mongolian than any European language.
