I would trade the pick. Get strong on the ice.

If they had some great pipeline of forward talent at Lehigh Valley, I'd agree.

Their very best forward (point wise) at LHV was Jordan Weal. And he's up with the big club now.

And it's likely, their best forward prospect is playing overseas (Lindblom, the Swedish kid). And I give him a 50/50 shot to make the Flyers next year and skip the AHL.

TK had a strong game, Ghost played aggressively and with confidence and Provorov was Provorov. This is pretty much all that matters to me right now.

Konecny scored two great goals, but he also took an incredibly stupid penalty that cost the team. Provorov actually struggled a little in that game. Flyers were up against a much better and stronger team.

Don't bring me down.
Konecny will learn to not take those types of penalties, his innate skills though can't be taught. I thought Provorov played fine for a just turned 20 year old rookie who is carrying this D corps on his back.

The entire team was heavily outplayed and pretty much dominated at 5 on 5 including the Provorov/MacDonald pairing.

Must admit the best part of watching a Flyers game is watching the youth.
It would be great to see others ... Morin, Sanheim, Hagg, . This team is cooked, I am sure MDZ and Schultz could sit a few games.
Come on Hextall just give us a little look at the future.

The coach, our assortment of 4th line calibre players, goaltending, and Couturier seem to be the main focus on to why this team is performing very poorly right now.
While I still believe Couturier is a 3rd line Centre, Giroux and Jake have had another bad season. Can't contribute on a regular basis, never seem to get that big goal, and really both of them have NOT earned their 8M. Your best has to be your best. That is the main reason this team is where it is.

It's really pretty simple. Giroux, who is supposed to be the 1C has badly underperformed, the goaltending has often been subpar, and they just lack overall speed and skill as a team. A hot 6 weeks at the end of last season gave us false hopes just the way the 10 game streak did this year. This is a mediocre team and there will be no quick, magic fix.

I'm cool with the plan, I think building from within is the way to go.

Agree, there will be no quick fix but the GM has to start making some off season changes. Giroux takes a lot of heat and I think Jake should too . He has got the big dollar contract but has not produced to that level.
I would not be opposed to moving either one if it could be done. Phaneuf and Kessel were traded so maybe ...anything is possible

I like the drafting of Hextall and the "plan" he has however your best players must be better than what we have seen over the last 2 years

Hopefully Giroux has somewhat of a bounce back year next season, then I'd trade him. His value is probably at an all time low. I wouldn't look to move Jake, guys with size and his type of skating ability often can play well into their 30s

Sadly, the guy I'd look to move is Simmonds. His value is at an all time high, and re-signing him to a big money long term deal at age 30 in 2019 would be very risky. I'd also look to move Schenn for a player that can give you more at ES.

I am really eager to see how the goaltending situation shakes down. I'm ok with neuvy backing up, but have to expect that we have another reliable starter next year, whether that's stollie or not I don't know. It's a long rebuild, but you want to have a solid backbone in goal for what will most likely be a very young D corps. If neuvy goes down and Stollie can't carry the load it could get really ugly. Otherwise, I'm good with the slow and steady. Move some more young guys into the lineup next year, and see what they can do. The more I look at the Streit deal, the more I like it because it's allowed Ghost to be permanently slotted in this role and he's seemed better or late. That's massive.

So Dave Isaac is reporting that Weal can be a UFA this offseason because he has 3+ years of professional experience and <80 NHL games played. Anyone know if this is true?

He'd have to have a sharknado of a final dozen games for him to be priced out of what he'll get. Which should be around 750k max. I Think if the flyers want him back he'll be here
