I'm worried the Flyers think a little too highly of Filppula. Is he really a better option than Provorov at the point at the end of games?

Provorov? Provorov isn't even on the PP2 now, so MDZ can play there. Doubt they'd use him on the empty net anyway now. Flip did have an assist there the other game. He's not that bad an option tbh.

My gripe is how they are using him 5v5. They are giving him all the best wingers on the team, and though he had that nice goal his first game, his 2-way possession play has been poor so far as a Flyer (not surprising), and that's the only goal they've scored as a line. 11-14-93 was the best line all season, yet Flip gets dibs on it right out of the gate, and it hasn't worked and Couturier has been significantly better in that same span. I like him fine as a middle 6 option, but he's whoring those wingers right now and not doing much. Reunite that line already ffs.

They have tried alright but when your top 2 players have not played well there isn't much hope to have 2 good lines

The probability of the Flyers making the playoffs at the trade deadline was dim. Now its all but mathematically shut.

The move was to sell every asset that would not be returning next year. That included Mason and Del Zotto. Even for a later round pick, you collect the asset. Take as many bites of the draft pie as possible, even in a weak draft.
