it's a really misguided troll attempt. nobody in toronto regrets it. he'd make them better right now but you can't win a cup with a cap hit attached to a player of his quality and the leafs got Matthews thanks to the tank after they traded him.

I know it is a minority opinion but Ottawa is entirely in love with Phaneuf for the job he has done in helping Cody Ceci grow his game. Phaneuf is also given a lot of love for his being a strong supportive voice for Karlsson learning to be a strong captain.

Are there no second thought about the Leafs having given up Phaneuf for essentially nothing. Watching Leaf games I wonder if Morgan Rielly in particular would have benefited by the Leafs having kept Phaneuf.
