The only thing that I can think about is that Lou and Leaf management did not believe the young forwards would be as good as what they are this year. Maybe the struggles on defence are made more glaring because the young forwards have had such a strong year. |

No Saturday Leafs game last week and then a Leaf game in Carolina the next week?
It's almost like the Schedule makers thought the Leafs were going to be out this time of the year so they gave them meh matchups on Saturdays in March  |

I know it is a minority opinion but Ottawa is entirely in love with Phaneuf for the job he has done in helping Cody Ceci grow his game. Phaneuf is also given a lot of love for his being a strong supportive voice for Karlsson learning to be a strong captain.
Are there no second thought about the Leafs having given up Phaneuf for essentially nothing. Watching Leaf games I wonder if Morgan Rielly in particular would have benefited by the Leafs having kept Phaneuf.
