Sestito was up not to fight for Geno but to handle the rest of the bs that when on from the first game.....namely big buff. Wheeler is of no consequence really. Malkin is a big man that can handle the likes of wheeler just fine. But Sestito was there to send a message to the Jets regarding the other running around that was done in the prior game. He even offered big buff a chance to go right before he smashed enstrom. Buff didn't answer the call that Geno did...what's that tell you really. As for the suspension....bs. total bs. Even the Bobfather MacKenzie said he didn't think the hit was that bad. Enstrom has to take responsibility for wussing out on the check. - taleisyreXIII
Exactly!!! He was there because we can't afford to lose 2 more Defenseman!!! |

Yes Gretzky and Mario had completely different protection. No offense to Caufield or Loney but neither was feared. - lloyd095
The problem with Caufield was he couldn't skate and had no balance. He always got his ass kicked because of it. Loney could play a little, but he was FAR from a tough guy. Things changed noticeably when 22 came on board. 25 wasn't bad either. |

If Pens have to put Malkin on the ice first then yes Winnipeg can throw Wheeler out. Wheeler asked Malkin and he fought out of respect even though he never really fought at all. However if Sestito is on the ice do you think Malkin fights? Then Sestito steps out for Byfuglien and Winnipeg throws Thorburn out to protect him with last change. It's exactly how it went down. It wasn't staged Sestito wanted Byfuglien not Thorburn.
I'm not the head coach of the Pens but apparently he felt that Winnipeg was taking liberties in the previous game too and still sees a use for goons. Which btw Sestito isn't Jay Caufield he can actually skate a shift if needed. - lloyd095
And it did nothing. |

these are love taps compared to what sid has to endure almost nightly. - taleisyreXIII
Yeah and most of that reason is because players are bigger, stronger, faster, and also wear body armor. |

Yup - taleisyreXIII
What about the other 10 times that hit happens in a game? Because those rubs along the board happen every game. |

Yes agreed... Stevens and even more so Tocchet were willing to dance with anyone. Tags too even though not a great fighter. |

I dunno...he smashed one of their players out of the game. We lost sestito...that just meant more ice for sid and Geno...which oddly enough led to 7 goals and a win. I'd say the game went well. Also we didn't lose two players to injury this time. Win win win all around. |

Honestly did you watch both games? I thought the first game we got pounded. The second not at all. Nothing other than Lowry going after Malkin once. |

I believe Lemieux got slashed by Adam Graves and got a broken wrist with Stevens and Tochett skating around in 1992, right? |

This is true. I don't know if Sestito was the "change agent", but the difference was stark. |

Good rebuttals and I can see why it's useless to talk hockey with him. Unless Im going to YouTube 1000s of Gretzky game's where he wasn't touched. |

I think the players should exercise their second amendment rights to protect themselves on the ice. |

Do you have anyway to prove why something that didn't happen didn't happen? The reason why it was prevented? |

Ikr. You make a statement and then he spouts a different topic to back his claim. Players being bigger and more well armoured doesn't have anything to do with sestito or protecting players without an instigator etc. I also love the video packages showing "proof" of his backwards thinking. I mean you can pull a video from the NHL to prove any narrative. Scott Steven proves lindross can't take a hit...or is this an open ice rub lol. But there are countless videos of lindross getting hit. So what's the point really of videos. |

What didn't happen? Malkin fought Wheeler. That should not have happened. |

HAHAHA WHAT? I posted videos of a guy getting hit, and you said they are "love taps" compared to what Sid goes through, and my response is WHY they are love taps, and you think that I changed the topic? Damn dude, you are sad. |

What didn't happen? Malkin fought Wheeler. That should not have happened. - j.boyd919
Why shouldn't it have happened? Malkin prob should have been suspended for his hit, instead he fought sat for 5 minutes and didn't miss any games. Sounds like the best solution to me. What I was saying is stats people like to say the word deterrent a lot, then try to prove that nothing was deterred. How do you prove nothing was deterred? If it was deterred it didn't happen. Tons of cheapshots could have been deterred because people didn't want to deal with Sestito, how do you know they weren't. |

I say Gretzky wasn't hit much....you show evidence..if you wanna call it that...I suggest this isn't evidence by stating it's nothig compared to today's stars...ie sid...then you change the topic to armour and equipment etc etc....that isthe narrative change here. The rest was all on topic until u pull out some crap about equipment. Thus changing the argument to equipment and how the game is played now vs then....seemingly forgetting that a lot of ppl here also agree with me on the Gretzky original argument. As in you lost that one by popular opinion lol |

You have lost any legitimacy with those statements...
watch the replay at 39 seconds:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...indefinitely-sestito-hit/
Guy has to be checked for Facial fractures but they are still waiting for the swelling in his face to go down. He retrieved the puck as he was ALREADY in the process of stopping to move it back up out of the zone, you can both HEAR him stopping and see the Snow from his skates as he is turning to play the puck up.
On top of that to the credit of ALMOST every single person who commented on this, it was a douche play and your fanbase called the player out for it. |

How is that a narrative change? You changed the narrative to today's game dumb dumb. And I gave the reasoning to why the game is different today than it was on the 80s. So again, you changed the subject and I continued the conversation along the lines of your topic. |
