As a Center, it very much is an if.
It is almost time to shift him to the wing and let Janko do his thing. Depending on any injuries that may be a nice plan for the playoffs.
Having both on the ice would be interesting, and may give Bennett a boost. Say what you will but Janko has been properly developed and patient. In a perfect world SB would have spent a year in the A. - FLflames34
I'm not concerned about Bennett just yet. It's only his second season, and lots of players have softmore jinx. Backlund took a long time to develop and people were calling for him to be traded when he wasn't the number 1 center people were hoping for him to be when Iggy needed one.
For now Bennett fills the role GG wants him to be. Not unlike how Backlund was used early on. |

Fair point. Him on a line with Jank pivoting though....
So much lanky size, once they are done filling out will be a masterstroke. |

Yeah there's two things about SB that could explain why he's playing sub-par: he's in a sophomore slump like you said and he's only (franking) 20 years old! People need to cut him some slack!
If he has a similar year or even lower point total next year then maybe start worrying but not yet...
If anything he's just helping us give him a cheap contract renewal |

Agreed that people need to give SB some time to develop. He may have been thrown to the wolves a touch early, but at least he is working his way up the totem pole and is learning to be responsible defensively. Also, his work ethic is very strong, and confidence is high. I remember when backlund had like zero confidence, and look how he turned out

Bennett has played all year with the 3rd best wingers and 3rd line minutes as well

I get that it's easier to root for prospects who are doing well than NHLers that are struggling, but you really need to give your head a shake if you think Jankowski has more than a 10% chance of being a better NHL centre than Bennett. |

I had mentioned earlier this season that I thought Fernand had more to his game, and should be on a top line !and a couple of Edmonton fans were laughing and so on ,well I'm glad he's taking advantage of this opportunity! He can score, hit, fight, and is still young, still learning! What not to like! Good luck the rest of the way, and hopefully you meet the oilers in the playoffs, you shut down mcdavid you shut down the oilers! - MR.Hunter
A Leafs fan is endorsing you.
This should concern all of you. |

From the Winnipeg Free Press:
Dennis Wideman, a healthy scratch since Stone was acquired Feb. 20 from the Arizona Coyotes, is expected to rotate back into the lineup.
"I want to play and if it's tomorrow, I'll be ready to go," the 33-year-old Wideman said. "With the guys going as well as they're going, I think you're just trying to come in and add to that and if not, just not take away from it."
We can only hope.

Rass can't play as long as there's 6 full time D. Called up on emergency, can only hope Wideman gets hurt. |

Anyone watching the game? I am listening on the radio. Sounds like Flames have been pretty dominant again. |

All lines rolling and the 3 Mill line looking dominant. Big fight between Bennett and Trouba. Trouba got bloodied up. |

For the most part they were. There's was some sloppy play at the start of the first two periods and overall it wasn't a very scrappy game. Bennett and Trouba went scrappydoo on each other |

That was a pretty nasty scrap. Both of them were bloodied and still throwing. Good on Benny for getting the decision. |

Flames now 2nd in Pacific. Just have to keep battling to say there. 2 games left against ANA will probably determine where we finish in relation to them, and although very unlikely, the final game of the season could decide the Pacific title if the Flames beat SJ in Calgary a week earlier. At this point I'm just happy they have a better chance now of hosting in the first round.
SJ has a nice schedule through to the end of the season though. |

Considering where we were sitting at all star break I am giddy we are talking playoffs let alone maybe actually hosting a series!
