Cappy does not see like an Uncle Lou type of coach.

It was nice of JT to call Cappy and take the heat. Maybe Cappy changing the lines every 5 seconds among other things did not help?

Before or after the 3 goalie circus? Big difference imho.

staple says in this interview halak was hurt a lot and isnt a hard worker, and wasnt the most cheery guy in the room. translation, the players dont like him and hes lazy
- Upstate_isles

The 3 goalie thing was handled very badly, but Halak is his worst enemy. I would still call him up now.

If you call him up would u send down Berube and put him through waivers or have the 3 goalie idiocy again? just curious.

I would send Berube down. If Isles do not trust Berube they need to try Halak. I'd rather not have to use Halak and really rather Berube be a solid backup, but he has not played well.

So the problem I see with that is Berube probably gets picked up on Waiver and then if (more like When).. Halak gets hurt you have No one with experience as a back up.

It's a risk but Berube does not have much NHL experience anyway and has really struggled. I would gamble on Halak staying healthy the rest of the year as a backup.

Staple addressed that in the interview. He said back when they should have sent Berube down another more experienced goalie cleared wavers so it was unlikely that Berube would have been claimed. He also said that even if he was an equivalent goalie could probably be had for a 6th round pick.

So send him down. He hasn't shown anything, so I'm not sure he would be claimed. IF he is claimed AND Halak gets hurt then go get another goalie. They are in a very tight playoff race. It is absolutely asinine not to have the best players on the team. Not acting because something bad MAY happen is ridiculous.

No, not going outside because you may be hit by a car is ridiculous. If you jump off a cliff you will probably be hurt, not may be hurt. Big difference.

I would bring up gibson and Halak and show Halak how lucky he was when there were only 3 goalies up here

I listened to the link Upstate provided and interesting that even Staple does not agree with how Garth handled the 3 goalie situation.

Who is picking up Berube? Nobody. He's a free agent after this year and he sucks. Everybody in the playoff hunt already has their goalie situation set. Except the Isles, of course. Bring up Halak & waive that liability. As far as injury, they are no different than any other team. Most every team has a goalie that's had injuries. You're looking to spell Greiss every now & again, so haklak might be looking at playing 3-5 games the rest of the season. If you're nervous with Berube between the pipes, then there's an issue.

Exactly. Anyone here comfortable with Berube playing 5 games? It doesn't look like Weight wants to risk it.

I heard that Ladd had something to do with Firiing of Cappy. Cappy basically did himself in when he verbally took shot at his only ally, Snow in post game about losing neilsen and Okposo.

that said, im happy he gone..

As for Berube, Who cares if he gets picked up. That guy has not showed one or even one save that makes me say, hey this kid could be special. He sucks. We got him for nothing as waiver pick, why should care if he is lost.

Sorokin and Soderstom have way more potential as does that kid Gibson we have in Bridgeport (soley as a backup)
