In my case the retained salary trade is done second. Are you saying it would still apply? - mrhattrick27
Oh I see, not sure about that. I would imagine the NHL wouldn't allow it but I'm honestly not sure.
I also don't think that any team is going to acquire 50% of a multi-year cap hit in exchange for a 1st round pick unless it was like a top-3 pick in a strong year.
If I'm ARI, in that scenario, I'm telling you to fork over Buchnevich and a the NYR 1st if you think I'm going to pay half of a contract you regret. |

It's been the rule for 100 years now. There's not one guy playing that doesn't know he has to keep his blade on the ice and on the line. I don't see how this should be an issue. It's a black & white rule. Always has been. What I don't understand is how it can take up to 10 minutes to look it over. The league has a view from right along the line in HD! - Tonybere
I agree... everyone growing up knows to drag your foot if it is close. If the player doesn't.. oh well.

Are you suggesting that Tanner Glass' 5:17 of playing time last night was the reason you beat the Lightning? |

I was under the impression that LeBrun was referring not to the fact that they aren't changing the rules, but the rules for the review of offsides. I don't want to change the rule, I'd just like to see the 10 minute review abolished. Give it a 60 second time limit or banish it all together. It's terrible. If a guy was a fraction of a step over the blueline just let the god damn goal count.
Maybe I misunderstood the tweet. - eichiefs9

No, I believe it was suggested that his 1:07 of fighting time was! |

Nope, raanta. But they were a different team last night. More physical than they've been all year, loved the emotion/standing up for each other, haven't had that all year. |

This will all be settled when the Rangers beat the wild and Stepan gets the game seven OT winner off a giveaway from coyle |

ultimately one of the problems is I am sure linesmen actually call offsides sometimes, and if they reviewed those calls with a microscope too you'd find some ones that they blew.
Those players will never get those scoring chances back.
I think offsides should solely be decided by the linesmen. |

I don't disagree with your first statement. but they are reviewing only the entries into the zones that are challenged on scoring plays. Its a small subset.
As for your second comment.... no, they wont get them back, but if they were offsides, perhaps they wouldn't have gotten them in the first place. |

I think the league needs a contraction instead of an expansion. A contraction of 2 teams dumps 40+ players back into the talent pool, making the league more skilled in this year and all subsequent years.
I'm not concerned about inflating scoring to attract people that never were fans, you get fans from grass roots programs, people who grew up enjoying the game. There are great 1-0 games and great 5-4 games, There are great hard hitting games, as well. If the game is exciting the number of goals scored doesn't matter |

the league only needs to increase excitement!! I never understood how someone couldn't enjoy a game like last night's. Just because the puck didn't cross the line a bunch of times, it's not a good game?!!?
And, I agree long reviews are not increase excitement. |
