Why isn't Shea Theodore the focus of this discussion?
- Der Kaiser

The Ducks are in a situation where they can't protect all their defensemen
But Theodore DOES NOT need to be protected
So trading him doesn't solve the Ducks problem

Mansons better, Theodore probably more realistic.

I like Manson but I don't think I'd give up a 1st for him

edit: maybe a late first, but 2017 is going to be top 10 most likely

“Nothing is completely crazy,” Sabres GM Tim Murray said. “Because if you look at the history of the game, there has been huge changes that probably people didn’t foresee coming at the time.”

Murray at the GM meetings.

What's crazy Tim is that you kept crap players at the trade deadline.

No problem

Defensemen...
Bieksa-nmc
Lindholm
Vatanen
Fowler
Manson

Forwards...
Perry-nmc
Getzlaf-nmc
Kesler-nmc
Rakell
Silfverberg
Cogliano

So if they only protect 3 defensemen, they're in a spot where they have to leave 2 unprotected and will almost certainly lose one they don't want to

If they protect 4 defensemen & trade 1,
then they likely lose Silfverberg or Cogliano

I'm sure they'll try to make some deal with Vegas...
But as of now, they're in quite a predicament

Not a Tyrod fan but he gives us the best chance to win, get rid of what ever players that will not fit into our new defense, I don't care who they are.
- SABRES 89

I heard Mike Glennon is going to get 15 mil per

better off reworking taylors deal and give him one more year

and I am not a fan of him

Interesting it could come down to how much of a return they can get vs how much of a bribe it would cost to keep. I wonder which way it will fall. Either way I would much rather lose Cogliano or Berg than Vatanen or Manson. You can replace a forward much easier nowadays it seems.

There is no way he goes for that. At the end of the day he knows he is going to get paid so he has little incentive to take something smaller/shorter here.

Are we trying to win some games next year or are we trying to win a championship? The answer should be the latter and thus we need to move on.

ducks will lose 1 of 3 in draft

lindholm
fowler
manson
vatanen

or silverberg/rackell

if they can move bieska they will ride out the storm IMO, leave fowler unprotected or trade him before the draft

I imagine if they trade one of those d-man they'll want Rhino or Nylander back in return - re: a young guy who doesn't need to be protected and on an entry level contract.

IF they can trade Bieksa (unlikely imo)
Then they could trade 1 of those 4 defensemen,
protect 3 and all their forwards

Theodore & Montour are pretty much ready to step in for them,
So they can afford to move a defenseman

Losing Silfverberg might actually hurt them more,
Bc they don't really have any impact forwards ready to step in

I highly doubt they can move Bieksa...
so I think they'll try hard to make some kind of deal with Vegas
But why would Vegas?
I think they'd rather just take Silfverberg or one of the defensemen
Idk what the Ducks could offer to make it worth Vegas' while?

Yep... that's what I've been saying too
Except I've got the Sabres offering them Fasching...
I guess it depends which of those defensemen they're willing to move
I think the expansion draft will be interesting,
bc the Ducks aren't the only team in a predicament like this
There's quite a few actually

There is no chance a guy like Manson or Montour are moved for Fasching.

We literally have 4 options to trade for a top 4 D man who's young

Reinhart
Kane
Nylander
17 first.

That's about it.

No one's taking our 5th or 6th best prospect for one.

The Colts probably got that prediction regarding Brady's likelihood for success from Hockey's Future.
