Pretty unequivocal stuff from Brandon. Sounds like its not as big of a problem as it seemed

the arena in rochester brings a lovely rainbow over the entire city of rochester when 6,000 people are in it

We don't get big concerts in Rochester anymore because the arena only holds like 10K - 12K tickets, and the Carrier Dome and KeyBank are only an hour either way. In the summer, FLPC and Darien Lake get the outside shows with the same capacities.

It's actually not a bad arena for its size - nicer than alot of other places where AHL teams play - but it isn't Pegula quality, and i get why they think they should get the same benefit of the free upgrades that the other tenants will get.

finger lakes is where it's at for a summer concert in WNY

if pegula buys the arena, doesn't he get rent money for those venues?

big pissing contest down here with the jaguars

they wanted the stadium all to themselves during football season, aside from florida georgia football game

city said screw you, we pay for that stadium, deal with it

- homiedclown

I would think so, but I guess that's part of the problem. The city doesn't want to sell (someone else mentioned) because they don't want to lose those revenues. And the Pegulas don't want to pay for anymore upgrades than they already have because they're not the ones that own it and would reap the benefits.

It's a tough one for the Pegulas because they respect the history of the team and everything (which shows by them being patient enough to try and work this out over the past few years while playing there with no lease) but at some point enough is enough.

sounds like there is 2 solutions

allow pegula to be co owner of the arena and split the cost (if possible) or

sabres move out of rochester

I just don't understand what improvements they would be looking to make to improve the arena for other attractions that wouldn't benefit the hockey side. Are they gonna make bigger jumps for the monster trucks?

Like I said, just needs some TLC overall. I don't think it's wrong of the Pegula's to want the city to pay for some upgrades that would benefit the hockey side at this point. They've been pretty patient.

Brandon's "legacy" is his history of reaching further west and into southern Ontario for support for the Bills. One way or another, he's going to want the Amerks in Roch. I could see them at most taking the amerks out of the city for a year to show the city he's serious about upgrades, but I think everyone knows the home of the amerks long-term is roch

That part confuses me a bit as well, but we don't know all the ins and outs to running a venue like that. I'm sure there's a giant list that we just don't realize.

Can't remember the year, but:

Basket of fried chicken, whites grapes, hunk of cheese; blueberries, 2 bottles of Riesling

Eric Clapton "behind the sun" tour

That is the nature of a green light investment.

While I'm sure Brandon has something to do with it, the Pegulas are more or less the driving force though. Kim is from there, plus it's been mentioned a billion times how loyal Terry is even as a business owner. He appreciates and respects the history of the franchise and wouldn't want to tarnish that in any way, which I think is part of the reason they've been pretty patient about trying to work this out.

Sabres did the locker rooms and other stuff to improve the team related facilities.

They want the city to handle concessions and boxes and other fan related stuff, but with PSE input, not just as Rochester thinks best.

But wouldn't improving the concessions and boxes and other fan related stuff benefit everyone that uses the arena?

Ok, that makes sense. The way it was worded before was that it wouldn't benefit the hockey side of things so it made it seem like the changes wouldn't be anything that the fans going to games would benefit from.

My guess is their worry is that the city will just do the bare minimum to "upgrade" those items.

Maybe they could move to Niagara Falls and share the arena with the Ice Dogs. That arena is only 2 years old.

I would guess they want to keep the team in the States. Less of a nightmare than dealing with two different country's laws/regulations as well as having guys need to deal with crossing the border when recalled.

EDIT: Their arena also only holds 5,300, where as BlueCross holds 11,200.

There's a basketball team that plays here. There's a concert stage on one end. I'm sure PSE doesn't want the place built up as a basketball arena or a concert venue.

Build one stateside in the Falls. Could probably get a lot of state money for helping NF rebuild and compete with the Canadian side.

Hall and Oates touring with Tears for Fears this summer. No Buffalo stop though. Closest is Cleveland and Toronto.

That's an expensive endeavor and probably not one they want to get involved in right now. Especially after having just built a sports complex across from FNC.

Sabres 4 - 1 tonight. Kuli and Franson with 2 goals each. Bogo 3 assists and Ennis/Moulson with two helpers. At the end of the game they skate around the rink flipping the bird to everyone left in the stands.....
