You really do pride yourself on turning everything around don't you?

You are the one who categorized everyone on here in groups and anyone trying to rationalize about the situation here was labeled a "circle jerker"... people with their varying opinions were all grouped into a single opinion and ridiculed... when your opinion was challenged,,, you would start your routine about people having jizz in their ears etc... striking from the band wagon...

Keep selling yourself as this open minded person.

Sure, but what do you think about hockey?

Where you hearing that from?

Sekeres said that the only potential move they'll make now is maybe taking on a bad contract if they get a sweetener to do so.

Rebuilds can go horribly wrong. We clearly needed a do over after getting hosed on the lottery last year.
- rugdnit

If things could be turned around that quickly and that successfully as Toronto fans claim don't you think other teams would use the same formula and catch up to these trend setters Leafs and Oilers? If it could be turned around that quickly Canuck fans only have to wait one year

So let me get this clear. We are two and a half years into an eight year rebuild.

I really wish this would have started after AV got fired. Gillis should have gone with him. This team was too much AVs team. Hell, he practically raised most of his difference makers.

Hindsight.

- bloatedmosquito

So...next season

Sedin - Sedin - Granlund
Bae - Horvat - Goblin

That's actually not too bad

Hoping to see Edler gone by noon.
- Grumpy13

Terrible idea.

If you want the top 4 to be some sort of Tryamkin, Juolevi and Hutton on the LH side in the future, you need someone to sponge up top comp so those guys can learn on the job without being punished every shift.

Same goes for Tanev. If he moves, then your right side depth is Stecher and... no one.

OMG, you terrorized me about wanting to fire Gillis. No, not in his final few months when the Torts experiment blew up, but the season before that you were still trolling the (frank) out of me over him. Too bad you rejected my opinion.

Maybe if you saw this as a rebuild the whole time with JB it would make better sense. He's not perfect and made some mistakes with Vey etc. and taken some risks to be competitive while getting younger.

It's just not a black and white fire sale tear down from day one rebuild. Which many desire. Reality dictated otherwise. He added layers with younger players. Developing draft picks. As they come into play maybe that will show you more. The main issue is the lack of a superstar. Lotto didn't give us one so far. The one time out in year one JB got BB which we have good hopes for top 6. The parachute draft for JB he took JV which is still in development. McCaan turned into a young experienced D like Guddy. Still building just from the back.

Plus that leaves the team in 2 years with some sort of

Baertschi-Horvat-Granlund
Goldobin-Sutter-Boeser

And that's really hoping that literally everything goes right in the world. Thats... thats not great.

Its nice to see the team going into a rebuild, but its friggin' far from over.

In a division that's nowhere NEAR as hard as the Metropolitan and a Conference that doesn't have Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim, Minny etc. in it. Let's see how those rookies do next year after the rest of the NHL has a chance to adjust to them.
- DariusKnight

Yeah it'll be interesting. I'm pretty sure most the Eastern teams have already caught on to how to play them. West probably will next year.

The writing was on the wall last year and even the year before. The 2015 team might have been one of the biggest paper tigers in NHL history.

I'm just glad they're getting around to it now and hope that the direction doesn't change another 3 times over the next year again.

- Lindenis#1

I give JB and Booner a hard time but it's obvious that management is doing what it needs to do. JB is using his skill set to fill the cupboards and rely on his development system (which has been surprisingly good) to build NHL players.

I like that.

But to help in the transition and hopefully reduce the accepted eight year timeframe, a few shrewd moves and a few high draft picks would really be encouraging.

The only thing Edler can teach is giveaways, getting caught up ice and taking bad penalties.

And play against top competition and keep your head above water. He has his warts, but he's a quality defenceman.

You can't just rid the roster of all the vets. You need some guys who can do the heavy lifting while the kids learn to up their weight. Edler can do that and thats more value that you can probably get in any trade.

Next year? Maybe its a different story.

Yeah I liked him and thought he had something to give. He was a perfect fit with Rollie, and apparently the guy in Carolina has basically been trying to rebuild his entire style since he got traded which isn't encouraging.

Would have liked it if he stuck around and with Markstrom were the tandem next year. Keep Demko as far away from the NHL as possible until he starts figuring it out.

Stop it. That's not true.

The only credit I have given Gillis is that his work has provided some of the future difference makers on this team, namingly horvat. I was right.

But you have used that to suggest I was a huge Gillis supporter ever since. It's ridiculous. I did not like Gillis and you know that's true because I have never supported any Canuck management team ever.

That's my thing for Christ sake. People tell me to let it go all the time but I won't until I see something viable. But I'm a Canuck fan so I've been waiting a long time.
