Anyone know if the shiny news toys Goldobin and Cramarossa draw in tonight?

I really have no interest in watching a game with the likes of Grenier, Rendulic and Labate on the line-up...

Back in Utica.

I'm I the only one who sees similarities in the development timeline between virt and Bert?

You know what I meant. He has proven that he can produce at the NHL level at the power forward position. That's why he was drafted. To fill that need.

He just needs to learn how to be a pro and everything will be fine. I believe the Canucks development system is very underrated by everyone. They will get virt sorted.

That's if they don't trade him first.

- bloatedmosquito

He hasn't proven anything...that's why he's in Utica. Getting 7 goals in almost 60 games really isn't an all world accomplishment. Look how great a player they made Cody Hodgson look. Propped up with good linemates and pp time. No he hasn't proved poop.

Goldy 100%. pretty sure Benning is not giving WD a choice as far as he is concerned. Cram better be in. He is more productive 4th liner than all of our 4th liners(almost combined)

Goblin can't play due to Visa issues. I suspect Crammroasssa is the same. They will play the following game.

Too bad. It would be fun to see if Utica could do better in the NHL than the Canucks. I would watch the entire game just out of curiosity.

Ecstatic? Stop. He did his job finally. Good for him. But it's not worth getting down on your knees Codes. Not yet anyway.
- bloatedmosquito

yes... Ecstatic..

Look at the last trade deadlines. Look at the direction of the team. Not only did we get good returns, we finally got an answer to the question that management always ducked to answer. We are now actually rebuilding. When you sell off assets for prospects/picks, on a bad team, you are doing something that we have been asking them to do for 3 years. I don't think its unwarranted to say we are thrilled with what happened, not just who we got in return, but that the direction of the team is actually going and that is a place we (most) can all be happy with.

Don't think you will see much of that. Eriksson will get another shot next year to prove his worth.
- LordHumungous

Eriksson should have a better 2nd season as many hope/predict.

the team having a poor season is needed to get a high draft pick, I'm just wondering how the club is going to market it to ticket buyers. how will they spin it?

Yes, but what would Utica look like if the Canucks were healthy?

That's a serious question. I'm too lazy to figure it out.

- bloatedmosquito

Seeing as how we have kept their first line center (Chapoo) and winger (Megna) on the NHL roster most of the season, I'd assume much, much better lol.

I don't know if it's due to the Cap or Aquilini wishing to cut down costs, but the lack of depth both in Utica and our ECHL roster is bloody embarrassing. Those two teams have consistently had to resort to signing scrubs to 24 hour 'try-out' contracts just to ice a team.

The screw up was waiting until the last minute, wether that was his decision or ownerships, it was a mistake. Clearly Hamhuis was willing to waive because eventuallly he did, but by then there wasn't enough time to complete what would have been a pretty complicated deal. I agree with WhitLie, when Dallas was low balling them it wasn't a mistake to walk away, but given more time it's possible he could have gotten something done.
- CubanBuffet

That sounds to me more like his agent pulling the strings to achieve the lowest possible probability Hamhuis would have to move before the offseason, when he could actually pick his preferred spot and re-settle his family in an orderly fashion.

we have so many areas of need, it is good to see we are adding some prospects with offensive skill.

anybody acquired through free agency, multi year contract, to fill a need is often expensive.

I'm curious to see what the goals are heading into next season? To play the younger players, sign more ufa's and hope to make the playoffs?

Another season with the chance of a top 5 or 10 pick might be what we need, but unless we sign some ufa's to 1 year deals, I wouldn't expect much to happen at tdl next season.

- hillbillydeluxe

Doesn't seem to be many good UFA's this year. I would like to see a couple signed to 1 year deals and a rookie or 2 in the line up.

I'm hoping that JB thins out some D depth with some trades at the draft. Trading Hansen and Burrows got rid of a lot of leadership in the room.

If Van does get Patrick I'd be open to see Patrick Marleau signed for a year between 2-3

You don't consider his 55 game rookie season a success? He's no horvat but that's not bad for a Canuck rookie straight out juniors.

He's a frustrating player but you got to give the kid some credit.

Yes Cody was definitely propped up but what good line mates was jake paired with?

That would be nice. I think I would prefer jake to be a Doan type player than a bertuzzi type player only from a longevity perspective. We all knew Bert's career (at the top end) was going to be a flash. Can't play that type of game and dominate for long.

I'm not sure if it has already or what the deal is, but I can't see him picked up by another team with the way his contract is structured, getting 8 mill next season and likely under performing if dealt to a new team... at the end of his contract with the lower cap hit, he might be seen as more desirable.

6 mill, doesn't kick in until 2020. If he bounces back next year, could be a TDL chip.
