Hate to brake it to you, but it's only 50/50 he even leaves Sweden next year.
- WhirlingDervish

I think it's more 85/15. Especially if he has a legit shot at an NHL roster spot. I also think Vorobyrov comes over too. He'll get more ice time on the phnatoms then in the KHL.

It's much higher than that. An NHL ELC will be much more lucrative than staying in Sweden.

surviving the terror attack could've been traumatic for him and may have given him a renewed sense of national pride

I mean on deadline day. He was a july 1st trade
- YuenglingJagr

I don't really recall there being many available either. Most of the guys available normally have a huge cap number. Schenn and Simmonds could likely fit on most teams for the remainder of this year.

I don't think Hextall will do that. They are viewed as everyday defensemen by Flyers management. More so than MDZ.
- Feanor

That's probably true. It doesn't mean it's right though.

If they get too many 2017 picks they can always trade up.

They're not going to trade Simmonds as he will be the next captain of this team very shortly. He is everything in a captain that they are looking for and I'm all for it. I just hope that once he dons the "C", he doesn't put too much pressure on himself and change his style of play.

I hope LeBrun is wrong. Unless Nuevirth is being signed to be the backup at very cheap dollars.

It worked when you get guys like Crosby, Malkin, Fleury.

Last year there was Matthews and Laine.

The Year before McDavid and Eichel.

It's a little different tanking for Hischier and Patrick as no one knows if they will even be franchise guys. They are good players. But can you tell me they are franchise altering that you tank for?

- J35Bacher

A meant the philosophy or tanking in general. Not for this year in particular.

I agree with that, I just don't view it as a legitimate possibility for deadline day

Neither do I. I don't even think it's a possibility at the draft either. I think this is the way Hexy wants to build the team.

I don't think he'll done the "C" and I think he could be moved eventually. Looking at what guys like Backes and Ladd got, are you willing to pay that or more for a guy that could be on the downside of his career?

Every one of the upcoming UFA's have said they hope to re-sign here in Philly. Streit went as far as to say he understands he has trade value and if traded wanted to come back here in the offseason. Obviously no one would say OMG please trade me and I don't want to play here anymore, but I get the sense they are being sincere.

Too Small? 0.6" shorter and 1lb lighter than your defending Stanley Cup Champions. Yes I know they are 30th in avg height and 28th in weight but size isn't always the answer. Everyone was screaming for 5'10" 175lbs Travis Konecny to make this team now we got to get bigger??? Can we make up our freaking minds?
- dragonoffrost

Size does matter, but not when it comes to the overall average height and weight of the roster. However, it's usually good to have one or two Dmen with good size and wheels because those attributes can help the PK. Also, since your bottom 6 forwards will usually not be highly skilled, I prefer guys with both speed and size that can win puck battles and forecheck effectively.

When it comes to top end skill guys like TK, size is bonus but far from a necessity.

That's the thing. You almost have to plan it for one a guy like McDavid, Crosby or Matthews type will be available. Right now I don't know when the next great one is coming.

Nuevirth is dead last in the NHL in save %. If he is signed, how much of a paycut is he going to take from the 1.6 he makes now?

Lebrun reporting Flyers close to resigning Neuvirth...probably a move to cover the Exp draft rules...
- JW98FlyerFan

Must be. Prob I have with it is that if he's not selected by Vegas, he's here and if the plan is to have him be the number 1 and ease stollie in, you know neuvy will get hurt and it'll all be on stollie.

hmmm hypotheticals now...alright.

I have very little confidence Hextall would move one of them for "prospects," but he has shown what was written off as tough love to Schenn. He was in LA when Schenn was drafted, but he wasn't in Philly when Schenn was acquired. You could say he has a history of trading Schenns

he is an ideal 6/7/8 defenseman and one that satisfies rules for expansion draft (not that AMac is getting traded or anything). It won't hurt the team much, but there's very little reason to waive him
- YuenglingJagr

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting waiving him prior to the start of next season. I'm just saying its no big deal if several kids look ready in camp and they're going to end up with 8 d-men on the roster to start next season, waiving Manning and sending him to the AHL at that point is a no-brainer to me.
