Shane Doan is gonna be a Ranger, I feel it in my bones.
- tomburton99

I said yesterday that I thought Smith and Doan would be the guys. One down, one to go.

What's the word? Any juicy trade rumors?
- rangerdanger94

Yes, on the main page Eklund says that the Flyers have no intention of re-signing Neuvirth. Lebrun just tweeted that the Flyers are on the verge of signing him.

So there's that.

He's trying to start up Trouba rumors again too. After all they went through w him & now he's signed, why would they deal him now?

Meh. While I agree in theory, what are they realistically going to do? One two guys who play somewhat physical isn't going to change anything. Unless you are blowing the team up and finding a whole poop load of top line talent who also plays physical, its really just ranting for rantings sake.

I would love Trouba on the Rangers. Think if Shattenkirk doesn't sign here as a UFA, then that could be explored in the summer, not now.

I think part of our issue is we draft a lot from the college and European ranks. That kinda toughness is not part of the college or European game.

Yeah, I mean Fast and Lindberg have a little edge to their game but they aren't scaring anyone. Miller can when he wants to. Kreider is strange. Its like he has decided he can't hit anyone anymore. He used to destroy people. Hayes and Nash that isn't their game. They are tough on the puck, but not considered physical. It's also a some of AV's philosophy. He will take speed and talent over grit. With that said though, I just don't think its realistic that the Rangers will have what people consider a physical team unless they start making major changes.

Also with everyone sucking the Caps Richard, how has that physicality turned into success in the playoffs?(Not directed at you, just something I wanted to say)

What's not addressed is we have players capable.....Nash....Kreider.....Miller, it's (frank)ing insane, it's AV, I think i have reached my peak with him and it's going to quickly go down hill from here, his personality has rubbed off on this team, he doesn't get fired up, we went from one end of the spectrum to the other

Even if that was remotely possible, You are ok with Lindberg as the 3c in the playoffs and Pirri as the 4c?
- mdw7413

I was okay with this until you said Pirri.

The misconception is that's it's not needed to win it all, and people will look at pitt or Chicago. The reality is teams that draft high end guys like towes, Kane, sid and geno can overcome a lack of physicality because it's sick high end talent. The bottom line is you need every facet to win, honestly the only facet this group has had recently is speed and quite honestly its probably the easiest thing to game plan for. Your right we can't do an overhaul overnight. Right now I'd just take one guy that does something different. The roster up and down is either really fast guys, small guys and big soft guys. It's AVs style so idk what they actually want to in this regard of getting meaner tougher etc. If you took some guys from the torts team, like prust-dubie, and added it to this group, that's the kind players I think we're talking about. It's just not there anymore

Definitely agree with part of that. Its AV's style.

And while it does suck to get beat up and look like marshmellows as a team, some of the more "Physical" teams haven't really done much in the playoffs.. Caps, Ducks, Blues, Sharks... I'm not saying the Rangers shouldn't be more physical, but there is a balance. Pens last year, Hawks before that, I'm not sure they would be described as physical, but did play with a team toughness.

Pretty much agree. Like Vin said, we do have some players that "could" play like that, but don't. I don't know what the answer is, but I would rather there be a change in philosiphy if possible, then try to bring in a player or 2 who is considered tough and have nothing change.

If you took the current team, the top 9 specifically, and for arguments sake had the islander bang line of Martin-czikas-clutterbuck, that would be a hell of team. The problom is they don't build it towards that. I love fast and what he does, same with lindberg, but that's a small 4th line. 4th line needs to get the crowd going with big hits causing havoc. Pirri certainly doesn't belong there either btw lol

It's funny you mention all this with the roster Torts had. At that time, we all complained about having too many of these "3rd" liners on the team and needed more skilled guys. Now, that the Rangers traded all these guys away (Dubi, Cally) or didn't resign them (Prust, Boyle...to a point), we are looking for their character again. I just want a good mix of both; not all of one or the other.

Blow up isn't logical, but a huge shake up certainly is. They way I see it only 2 guys should be untouchable, Mac and Skjei. Anyone else could be dealt for a handsome package. Tell me what Dallas wants for Klingberg and Rousell and I'll get them from the airport
- Slimtj100

Stepan should be gone in the offseason. And before everyone says I hate him, it's business. He could bring us a nice package and his 6.5 million NTC is off the books. As much as I like McD, the guy nerds to start standing up for his teammates. Last night Nash got into some face washing with 2 caps and he just stood there watching. Staal got into it as well as the other 9 players on the ice except for our captain. I've played team sports my entire life and would never stand for a teammate not standing up for one another ESPECIALLY a captain.

Fast is so replaceable and expendable but he's AV's responsible dog, he gets bumped up to replace Vesey in the top 6 all the time in the 3rd only problem is he has no business in the top 6, I would package him in a deal with picks and a prospect for a Roussel, god that would be a dream

100% agree on the good mix. The torts end is no existent
