Same reason Crosby can go & Mug Mac Doughna and not get the instigating penalty along with it ... both got 5 min each & Mac got the original Peanlty
changed the entire games momentum...
NHL has always had a cave mans mentaltiy that is slowly moving the needle
just not fast enuff compared to other major sports
Major sport ? NHL is border line & its cause of such issues I outlined

- Dundee13

The best ever was when Callahan was slew footed by Crosby & Cally got a 2 min penalty for interference.

At one point we had top a 10 PP and PK, both have plummeted, it seems to be the same old problems that keep us from getting over the hump, just when things seem to be trending up our boys leave us scratching our heads

Jim - Your POV's are refreshing but you are off on your assessment of the PP.
It is almost a chore for them to get into the zone consistently, or even have guys supporting the puck carrier. Also when they are leaving their zone to bring the puck up ice is pathetic.

Case in point - McD turnover on the drop back pass which turned into a scoring chance for the other team. Even when our PP was 5th in the league to the eye it looked like the same old crap from previous years. We either don't have the players or the coach stinks at drawing up a plan. The Flyers are void of talent and their PP always looks like it is a threat to score; which is why I think this is a coaching/making in game adjustments issue.

I have repeatedly said that the drop pass to create momentum up the ice doesn't work. Just didn't mention it again now, since it's like beating a topic to you know what. The need for a PP QB is to help with the rush in addition to once the zone is gained and shot from the point. I have advocated mixing and matching personnnel and changing alignments.

That's an adjustment the coaching staff can't handle

the offsides rule is a horrible rule

a league that's considering everything from reducing goalie pads to increasing the net size to increase scoring is constantly taking away legit goals, killing a team's momentum with these outrageously long video reviews in the process

this is so bad, it's worse than the skate rule in the mid 90's that kept taking goals away if a skate was in the crease

- jimbro83

I was explaining the same thing to my daughter last night during the interminable wait to see if a toe was over the line.
This is the same BS that needs to be addressed during the off season.

The Offside rule is the same rule it was last year the year before and the year before that. People are upset because it is getting enforced by the letter of the rule now??
Jesus stop whining about it!! Its a black and white rule.
If the Rangers were on the other end of that call and we won a game becuase fo it everyone here would be smiling and having a circle jerk about how the rule is the rule.
People here need to grow up and stop complaining about black and white stuff.
Its the SAME rule for every team, the rangers aren't getting screwed or treated unfairly. Perhaps take a look at why players are going offsides or they aren't dragging their back skate if they know its close.

Flyers aren't trading Simmonds, especially not to us.

enforcing the rule ? Must modify & make it enforceable in a minute not a pace changing 5 ?

I'll take Tom Wilson
a) So we don't have to play against him and have our guys looking over their shoulders all game
b) so people will know if they step out of line we have a madman who will make them answer the bell
c) the guy has some decent skill, size, speed and can score a bit, while mucking it up

Give me Wilson, Fast, and Lindberg on our 4th line.
Too bad the Caps will never trade him to the Rangers.

If the Rangers got Wilson he would be in the box for 90% of the game. Its just the way the universe works

So in the Stanley Cup finals, you want to put a Jeopardy like timer on a goal that can decide the cup?
I want them to get the call right, if that means installing new cameras or getting better technology, so be it
They can do the same with the puck and the goal line as well. something like a chip in the puck and on the goal line to know for sure even if its under a goalie or in his equipment if it went in or not.
