I wasnt limiting it to just those. Just saying pieces we have to move.
- kevndevries

Yeah I get that. TB would be looking for a player that could make an impact sooner than later. They probably have a solid 3 year window after this season. If they get futures it will be a high high cost.

Would you trade Hartman, Kruger, Forsling and a 1st for Duchene?

Yeah the Jets looked bad in that one.

Gotta figure Paul Maurice is a goner after the season. Lot of talent on that squad ....

Thats true they are just going to have a hard time signing Kucherov, Drouin, Johnson and others IMO

RFA though. He would be the 3C I think next to Hossa
- kevndevries

He's a bit too young and too good to be a 3c. I don't see Tampa trading him for beans.

Meh they will be fine especially if they can move Filppula or Garrison. They also will be able to bring over Nikita Gusev in another year. Would be Panarin 2.0

Except there's a world of difference between Dallas' d-system (or lack thereof) and what JO will be playing with the Hawks.
- EbonyRaptor

That's where the deeeep fancy stats are supposed to give a clear picture. Quality of competition, zone starts, D partner, which forwards you're playing with and add in their deeeeep fancy numbers into the equation and you come out with a clear picture.

love both moves so far.

Jurco is a fun gamble.

Oduya, if healthy, could really be a difference in the final stretch of the season. If he plays well, the Hawks are stacked on the blue line and have plenty of different options. His return could have a significant affect on the rest of the team as far as possession and play goes. Could see real balance though to their blue line.

and for both players, the Hawks gave up picks and a player who had no future with their NHL team.

I wonder if anything else is coming...

The Hawks went 1-4 against the Jets - beat them the last time finally like two and half weeks ago.
- L_B_R

Watched the last period of the last two Wild games. Few observations:

Jason Zucker is ferocious -- especially for a guy 5'11'', 187 lb

Both victories came without Pominville and Parise, who are both out with the mumps -- isn't their a vaccination for that?

Granlund is killing it this year. He had the winning goal last night against the Kings in the first 12 seconds of overtime -- it was a nifty move, but Kopitar looked like he was watching someone in the stands https://www.nhl.com/wild/...p-d/c-49817403?q=granlund

L_B_R dug up some stats already. Slowing down but still playing sound defensive hockey. Anomalies in the stats for this season due to injury and 3rd pairing duties with lesser partners.

I'll get a clear picture after watching this month's games (too dumb for fancy stats and charts)

I'm excited to see this play out.

If it comes to pass, can you just see game #1 in Minny in round 2 and the Hawks "steal" the game? Boudreau will give another great post-game presser......kind of like tonight when he answered the question about Suter's injury....."its a body injury". He'll be tighter than piano strings and then the new wonders of the NHL will have to think about how they've never beat the Hawks in a playoff series.

It's just my guess based on Kempny playing better lately and having a bigger upside than the physically limited TvR and the aging Campbell.
- EbonyRaptor

After the core 3 on defense I trust Q to work his reasonable options and best distribute the remaining minutes between Oduya, Kempny, Campbell and TVR.

Of course I'm assuming Hammer and Oduya are relatively healthy and if so a fan has to like today better than yesterday as they've filled a pretty big whole at #4-5 or 6.

Add if Jurco fills the 3LW slot and allows Hartman to be bumped down to the 4th line the Hawks filled some holes, added depth and size without losing a valuable ELC rookie and cost only McNeill, a 3rd and a 4th allowing for a minimum amount of damage to next year's opening day roster and cap.

Lotta boxes checked by StanBow with the additions of Jurco and Oduya.

For the right price he'd be a great pick-up. Very versatile, plays LW and RW and can play on the PK. Not a star, but a guy that can play up and down the lineup.

Stan Bowman has made two solid additions in a week and still has his 1st and 2nd RD picks which he wants to keep.

So JJ said Desi, Kruger and maybe more for a bottom 6 player? Hmmmm who the heck would that be? Wonder if the additions to Kruger is a sweetner to take on 16's cap hit?

Well thats a dumb argument. This guy is too good to play 3C on our team. Isnt that the point? You would have legit scoring on three lines.
Schmaltz-Toews-Panik
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Jurco-Johnson-Hossa
Hinostroza-Kruger-Hartman

Swap out Hino if you would rather have Kero or Rasmussen or whoever

A guy who is too good for a third line is exactly who I want on my third line.
