Hawks are a better team than they were a day ago. Maybe a lot better. Like I said keep hoping Hammer is AOK 4/1.

Maybe it's just me, but i think its a good sign that they set a small time frame of one week for him to return. I feel like if it were something serious that might linger for a while they wouldn't risk saying anything that might not be accurate, it would just be indefinite or "week-to-week, we'll know more later" type of thing.

Oh Stop It. If we start admitting every time we are wrong the number of posts would at least double.

I'm wrong often. I didn't think the Hawks were gonna sign Campbell.

Or the famous Q line regarding injuries......"we'll see but we think he's going to be out awhile"

Stan Bowman has made two solid additions in a week and still has his 1st and 2nd RD picks which he wants to keep.

Is your name here a reference to Tommy Boy??

Absolutely DH. One of my favorite movies.

Great to see Oduya back in the Indianhead and dare I say Bowman redeemed himself...somewhat??

Sh*t MrP.....I'd give both of them up + for Duchene or someone who can really play on the top 6. Screw the draft in Chicago.......damn McD's "Stanley Cup".

Hey J......with this acquisition of 35 year old Johnny O, it would seem
that they are ALL IN for this year and realize that they have a real opportunity
to get it done again. Could they now be reconsidering the possibility
of unloading a boatload of youth for Duchene ?
Kruger, Hartman, Forsling Motte plus ??????
I'm really thinking something big may come out of
tomorrow. Washington and Minnesota are the favorites right
now, but another big addition would put the Hawks right up there
with them. Thoughts ???

- Hawkytalk

That would be a major feat at this point.

This is great we became so difficult to play against if Johhny can still be a top 4 defenseman, this helps our PK, matchups, Stan go get Mitchell and we're good to go, love it, love it, love it

I have a good feeling about the trade. If he's healthy, stays healthy, and gets more playing time as a result, there's not much more I could ask for, and Stan played this like a miser. Love it.

Hey!! Isn't anyone policing this site anymore. We have two people admitting they were wrong about something in the last 1/2 hour. I guess just anybody can post on this site now. I used to enjoy the feeling that everyone who posted on this site was always right.

I really think we're at a point(especially with the STP line catching fire) that we don't really need to give up a ton of depth/youth/future to bring in another top 6 splash addition at forward.

Think about it like this, the Hawks are one of only a few teams right now that already have 8+ players with 30+ pts. 6 of those are forwards. So basically 6 forwards right around pace for 40+ pts, which is very solid.

What we need more than that is depth in the bottom 6, and more specifically a 3C that can win face offs. If we give up Kruger + Hartman or Kruger + Schmaltz to add another star winger, we're subtracting just as much as we are adding IMO. Not worth it. I'd rather have the depth. I'd rather go after a cheaper option, REALLY want someone to help at the dot.

Nice move ,and still on the very cheap side . Only given up a 3rd 4th (maybe 3rd) and a low prospect . Just as I suspect Stan will be very stingy with his youth and picks .And 50% salary retained ,way to go Stan !!! ...GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the only way to acquire Duchene would be to have Avs retain 50% and include Kruger in the deal which would be a wash from a cap perspective for the Hawks - Duchene @50% = $3M and Kruger is @$3.1M. What it would take to get Sakic to agree to that deal is probably more than Stan is willing to pay.

Wild up 3-1 after one against the Jets. Guess Suter got boarded by Postma. Got a 5 minute major and Suter was down for like 5 minutes. Don't know how bad he's hurt but the Wild guy for the Star Trib is Michael Russo on twitter said he's not looking too good now per Russo.

Hell Ebony.....give them this year's #2 and next year's #1. I'm all in for the next couple of years and those picks aren't doing jack for years after that.

John Mitchell's faceoff percentage this year is 54.4% but only 43.8% on the PK.

According to JJ, Sakic wants Hartman included in the deal, so it would have to be minimally Hartman and Kruger and then Stan would probably have to add to that.

Well there was about 50000 crosschecks Suter was owed payback for over his career. Half of them were on #19 of the Hawks. My eyes aren't wet over it.

I'll chip in an oversized novelty can of Fosters "beer" to help sweeten the deal
