Common Oduya, the more I think about it the more he will help, Kempny just not ready yet for top 4 work, Campbell has lost his initial burst, TVR solid#6, Oduya would slot all the dmen in there proper places, make it happen Stan

When is everyone going to realize the "great" prospect Stan "snookered" Garth Snow out of is a slug that won't ever amount to an NHL-capable defender? My guess is he's worth even less than a throw-in on any deal from the perspective of just about every NHL GM (except for Stan, of course).

Perhaps in the AHL...or another organization.

I've seen enough of him in a Hawks sweater.

Late last night 93Joe was hinting at a possible deal between the Hawks and Canucks...Bo Horvat's name was mentioned and that along with all the talk of necessary C depth got me digging. Here's a list of centers that may be nice additions to the bottom 6, but obviously come with their warts:

Tyler Bozak: 14G/25A, 56.0 FO% but doesn't really play on the PK and not sure if TOR would want to part with him anyway as it looks like they're gonna be in the tourney. Remaining cap hit is $933,333 according to CapFriendly and his cap hit for one more year would be $4.2m.

Brandon Sutter: 15G/12A, 55.8 FO% and 53.9 FO% on the PK. Just 28 yrs old and 6'3" although only 190 lbs jeezzz. Remaining cap hit is $972,222. Problems may arise next year with his cap hit being $4.375m, but I'm with those that say figure out next year NEXT YEAR.

Travis Zajac: 13G/26A, 54.8 FO% and 53.8 FO% on the PK. I've always liked Zajac's play. He's got playoff experience in which he's performed pretty well in. His remaining cap hit is $1,309,722. The Devils aren't making the playoffs this year, so any idea why there hasn't been more talk with the Devils by Bowman? I feel like they have some players to like. Again the problem would come next year with his $5.75m cap hit.

John Mitchell: 2G/2A, 54.4 FO% and not much PK time (only 43.8 FO% out of 32 FO). His remaining cap hit is $410,000 and he is a UFA after this year - really the only reasons I would be interested as his basic stats (I didn't get into the CF%, shot suppression, possession, etc) aren't that appealing, at least to me.

Bo Horvat: 18G/22A, 51.5 FO% and 47 FO% on the PK. Heavy body with some speed and YOUNG. From what I've watched, he likes to play in front of the net which the Hawks could use. I'm not sure why the Canucks would trade him as there seems to be potential for growth, but if so I think the Hawks should be all over that. Plus it will appease those that want a Triple H line. His remaining cap hit is $198,704 and will be an RFA after this season.

Anyway that was a lot of stats and rambling, but I'd like to hear from you guys if you think any of these players should be ones that the Hawks target before 3pm ET tomorrow or if there's other I didn't think of.

First post on Hockeybuzz, complete. Glad to be a part of this message board, keep it up JJ and everyone else who comments. Always a good read.

Bo is the one of the only guys I wouldn't mind seeing a rookie go for in a trade.
Third line of Hartman-Horvat-Hossa... not even fair. Another Triple H line. Canucks might be a dance partner for a forward. Hansen brings speed and grit.

Bo might cost an arm and two legs. So next to impossible.

Wonder if the Hawks/Oduya deal is "all but done", with a sliding compensation scale for salary retained should the Hawks add a cheap forward before the wire...

Rob, you better not speak like that of TVR in Q's presence, he'll have you quartered and shot. There's not one other player outside of #2 that avoids the wrath of Q in the same way. Mistake? No problem. Forgive and forget.

Wow...declines trade to the Habs...

I'm starting to like Jannik Hansen.

My understanding is Jannik Hansen will not accept a trade to @CanadiensMTL. Perhaps another eastern market, but not the #Habs. #Canucks

Hansen probably insisting on a coach who is also fluent in Danish.

Burrows only waived to go to Ottawa because they agreed to give him a 2 year deal, wasn't going otherwise.

The thought of Hansen from the Nucks is interesting. Solid guy who can play C or wing and plays with an edge. Good size too.. 600/200. Wonder what Canucks want for him? Come on Stan.. need a tad more snark/edge to the roster.

Just joking. Nobody wants the Quebec tax hit is likely the real reason.

I know Montreal is a great town, but I'm not sure playing for the Habs would be good for a players mental health...

...unless they win of course.

I don't think a player off the roster is needed to bring O-Dog back to the Hawks, coming off an injury and the Caps stole the top Defensive prize from blue's, third rounder at best. Hawks are rolling so let's not tinker too much. You can never have enough D-men so let's hope that is the priority.

JJ was saying on Twitter that the Amazon outage that KO'd Hockeybuzz, also messed up his source backchanneling immensely. So he's probably just getting caught up himself...

Hi DK, back at you, hope you are well too (I'm safe and dry on this miserable night).
Would be nice to see 1 more solid add on the D side but thinking Stan might not have anything else up his sleeve. And of course, unless it JO returning where he knows the system and would have Q's trust pretty quickly, it will be difficult for almost anyone else to fit in right away (if at all).

I tried pushing my vegetables around the plate to make it look like I ate some and dad caught on. Now I'm grounded.
