IF (big if) there is more to Hammer's injury and there is LTIR or IR involved my guess is a crafty GM wouldn't telegraph anything regarding that so as to maintain leverage for trades (i.e. No one knows for sure if there is a big need at D and no one knows for sure whether there is cap space or how much). IF (another big if) we start to see low level moves like we have in the past to maximize the cap then it could mean somethings afoot. Usually when something is about to happen we see the ripples first.

Wouldn't that mean less CapSpace though?

I think you do what you can to win now without needing to blow up the core of your team in the next couple years after.

I look back at the last two TDL's and say Stan did the right thing getting Vermette, Ladd, etc. for what he gave up. There were complaints about Dahlback, draft picks, etc. but he needed to go for it while 19 and 88 are in their primes and 2, 7, 4, 81, and 50 are still playing at close to elite level.

They both signed for a number (far) below the bury cap ($1,025,000), so doesn't really matter, both guys can collect their paychecks from their condos in Rockford without it meaning anything to the cap if the Blackhawks chose to do so.

I know Rozy has nothing left in terms of skating ability, but he is a warrior who gets after it every shift and still plays with an edge. He is one of the few D we have who really tries to lean into hits when fighting for pucks in the corners.
