Well thats a dumb argument. This guy is too good to play 3C on our team. Isnt that the point? You would have legit scoring on three lines.

Well there was about 50000 crosschecks Suter was owed payback for over his career. Half of them were on #19 of the Hawks. My eyes aren't wet over it. - RickJ

Im not expecting it to. Just thinking about possibilities. They were already talking with Tampa apparently. Maybe they've talked about it. |

Fair enough. I'm curious to see what Tampa does with Filppula. Good player, big contract (for their cap situation) |

For the right price he'd be a great pick-up. Very versatile, plays LW and RW and can play on the PK. Not a star, but a guy that can play up and down the lineup. - DarthKane
I like the way Hansen skates. Otherwise, I haven't really observed him beyond that. |

David Desharnais of MTL to Oilers - 93Joe
Helluva game in Montreal tonight as the Jackets invaded. MTL won it in OT, 1-0. Denault centering Pacioretty and Rudolov but is pointless in his last 8.

Still can't believe we got Oduya for essentially nothing.
Honestly who has a better Dcore than the Hawks right now? Probably the tops in the NHL with everyone healthy. Or at least top 3. |

Well looks like they finally woke Stan up after his nap...
a smart cost effective move by Stan, dare I say this is the deepest the Hawks defense has been during all the previous Cup runs...you have 12 Cups among the defense...
#2 - 3, #7 - 3, #4 - 3, #51 - 1 and #27 - 2 and sure Oduya's lost a step and he's been hurt, but he knows the system. You now put #7 w/ #2 and #27 w/ #4...Campbell with Kempny or TVR...really liking Kempny's game of late.
McNeil and a 4th (possibly a 3rd)...have to give Nill some credit here after he pantsed Stan with the Sharp debacle...best of luck to McNeil hope he does well with Dallas.
And 50% retained...tip of the cap...
ok so now a vet wing or center...how bout it Stan?... - DK002
I realize you are talking about the defensemen that will actually play but #32 has 2 Cups too! So that's 14. |

Even more shocking is the Blues moved Shattenkirk. He is or was a big part of that Blues team. Blues kind of waving of the white flag with that trade. Heck keep him and trade his rights at the draft. Dunno about that trade at this point. |

While this is true, Oduya's role was pretty similar between the two, which was shutdown hockey. Oduya actually had slightly more defensive deployment in Dallas this season than he did with Chicago - almost 10% more DZS% though against similar quality of competition.
Not going to go into extreme depth but the numbers say that in 2015-16, Oduya was still putting up good though not great 2nd pair numbers - 51% CF, good ZSR to ZFR improvement, his passing stats were decent. His quality of teammate was lower, though Demers was a good partner for him.
This season, his numbers dipped a bit this year to 3rd pair numbers but there could be several reasons: 1) the sample is smaller, 2) he was hurt, 3) is quality of teammate decreased a lot more (Johns/Benn), and/or 4) he's just older now. His transition numbers have been declining year over year, even when he was with the Hawks (you all remember the bad zone exit turnovers), so that's something to watch when he wears red again. Hjammer has also been struggling in this area, so there may be some kinks to work out if they are paired once more.
Conclusion is that Oduya is probably best suited for a defensive, low-event role, which suggests Hjammer and/or TVR as his partner. It'll be interesting to see what pairings Q decides on because he's been reluctant to unite Keith-Seabrook except late in games, but this might be the ideal situation to see Hjammer-Oduya. Could also keep Oduya on the bottom pair with TVR and year 2-4 together, who is also a low-event player, but Soup-Seabrook is not ideal.
Here is Oduya's dImpact on the Stars
- L_B_R
Key to me is if Oduya can play on the PK effectively. If so it's a really good trade for the Hawks. |

Big contract for a player of his caliber. He has fallen off a bit. Hard to move 5 million though without giving something up. Try Arizona in the offseason I guess |

They could use a competent coach more than anything. |
|

MIN has some good ones. Ducks are very good two but their bottom pairing I dont think measures up to others in the conversation. Caps, Preds, Hawks, and Wild are the tops that I can think of. Sharks are goo but not to the level off those other 4 IMO. Anyone I am forgetting? |

Nashville? Washington? - kinigitt
Nashville: Josi, Subban, Ellis, Ehholm, Irwin, Y.Weber
Washington: Carlson, Alzner, Niskanen, Orlov, Shattenkirk, Schmidt
I think the Hawks d-corps are right there with Nashville and Washinton
What other teams have good d-corps?
