I don't see the point of this trade.
Lou already said he would stay the course and not trade away picks for short term gain.
So now we trade a second rounder for a 32 year old rental.
I know we are weak at centre but why do this ? To make the playoffs to be swept by Washington or Pittsburgh?

I don't think the current group is changing that much, and I think many of them can benefit from having boyle, and his 67 playoff games the last 3 seasons. The fact that he is coming from a team that has alot of similarities to this leaf team is a bonus too. I rather they do this move than go all in and trade for a Shattenkirk too. As for Goat, he'll get his shot, and he can learn a lot from Boyle too.

Even if he's a rental, he can positively impact the future of this team.

If they make more moves....then I think you might have a beef.

Leafs went out and got a player who can help them win down the stretch and potentially get to the playoffs where the kids can learn without giving up anyone from their future. Sure they gave up a late second in a poop draft but they still have another one theyll be fine.

I think the Leafs have done just fine with their 2nds the last 2 drafts. They can afford to give up one for a guy like Boyle.

He's also a guy that has spent two years playing with kids, helping them get to the final one year (his second straight trip), and 17 games in last year (probably could've got past Pittsburgh if Bishop didn't die again).
