Just read about the trade.
Takes news a bit longer to come over the wire to ol NZ.

Happy to see Burr off to the nation's capital with a decent shot at making some noise in the playoffs.
Great fit for that team.

I wish him all the best.
Loyal soldier who can come back anytime (after he retires).

I agree 100% Burrows would make sense in coaching etc for us.👍👍

Swedish D-Man Rasmus Dahlin is 2018 eligible. Different, but still a big win

Perhaps...I had thought someone had mentioned the Ott prospect specifically as a return.

I wonder if Benning was scouting him when he was in Europe.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Must've been. Liljegren was on loan to Timra and they have another top draft eligible forward on their team in Pettersson.

EDIT: Gotta wonder if JB was looking ahead for chemistry, especially if he misses out on top 3 again

so Burrows nets essentially a 2nd rounder (2016)... and some of the people on here thought i was over pricing Nux players....

i expect a full mea culpa from all the haters over the past two years who ridiculed anyone who proposed Burrows would net more than the bag of pucks or similar return they were talking about instead of something like what we saw here today.

Jonathan Dahlen

An offensively very skilled player. Dahlén is a good scorer and playmaker and quite shifty with fine technical skills and overall offensive awareness. Furthermore, an agile and creative player with great character. Skating might look suspicious at times, in some ways quite comparable to father Ulf's, but he reaches good speed and and has impressive edge work. Good work ethic and a capable two-way player. - See more at: http://www.eliteprospects...2368#sthash.rzT87uZD.dpuf

Speaking of whining, JB made a TDL deal. What are we going to whine about now?

Why it took him three years to learn how to do his job?

So J. Benn got a 4th rounder and B level 26 yr old Defensman.
If that is the going rate for Sbisa, i'll take my chances with LV e-draft.

I will fully admit I didnt think Burrows would get more than a 3rd before the trade season started. I was cautiously optimistic that he could get more (Hansen too) when deals started happening at higher prices than expected.

I am still going to temper my expectations for Hansen because I think Ottawa got a little desperate, but I am very happy with the deadline so far

Heard a prospect pundit say he is about 2 years away from the NHL. The 'experts' in Ottawa are not happy, not happy at all.

The 2 year extension changes Burrows value, his value without the extension is still low.

Woah. 2 years @ 2.5.

I think that's manageable for a younger team like Ottawa.
Burrows can come back as assistant coach in 3 years then (after we have fired Travis Green)

- dbot

HA!

well played...

Gotta wonder if JB was finally allowed to sell at the TDL this year. I think he did well in past deadlines with his moves for Sven and Granlund but wonder if he didnt have to find "close to NHL ready" players this time around

They only brought in Dahlen to take the pressure off Subban.

Good point. Ottawa probably wanted the assurance of retaining him before giving up that price, too cheap to do pure rentals

Dahlen is basically a 3rd...but we'll give you over-valuers the 2nd on this one...
