never mind, their expansion draft tool says he has a full NMC.

that being the case, dorion is stupid if he doesn't move ceci.......if he doesn't we're almost guaranteed to lose either methot or wideman for nothing.

- sensarmy_11

didn't I hear that apparently they asked Phaneuf to waive his NMC for the purpose of the expension draft? not to trade him...
might be just a rumour...

probably just a wishful thinking rumour.

but even if he does, you protect karlsson for sure, and you know they'll (frank)ing protect ceci because they're under some mind boggling illusion that he's actually good.....which means you have one spot left to protect either wideman or methot.......so no matter what we probably lose one.

if dorion had half a brain he'd package ceci right now, as I doubt his value will ever be higher given the absurd price of players so far this deadline, for Duchene or landeskog. you can move wideman up to play with phaneuf, claessen onto the 3rd pairing......and you could make a very convincing argument that we'd not only get Duchene but our defensive group would be better.

While I 100% agree with you. Pierre D is very clearly to scored to make a deal Duchene sized and Sakic's asking price would need to go way down

I would have no problem protecting Karlsson, Methot & Ceci...Highly doubt Vegas would take Wideman

if the rumoured asking price of ceci, white, and a 1st is legit.....I'd be perfectly happy with dorion making that deal. it's high, but it's not astronomically high, and it would make Ottawa instant contenders in the east.

that's ONLY if phaneuf agrees to waive his NMC (doubt he does that).

also, I think wideman is criminally underrated. not a top pairing guy or anything, but I think he's a much better player than ceci.

I respect your opinion but I value Ceci higher then Wideman...not saying I want to get rid of Wideman, he's perfectly fine in his current role...

either way, losing him for nothing would (frank)ing suck......especially when we could move ceci in a package for a bonafide top forward and then probably not lose anyone (for nothing)

I would probably do that deal too...especially that this year, a 1st round draft pick of a team making the playoffs is not worth as much as in the past...

true...unless we make a deal with Vegas to prevent taking any of our D...

in an ideal world, ceci is moved in a package for Duchene, phaneuf agrees to waive (but doesn't get picked up), and they end up taking ryan (that would be sweet) or more likely dzingel......or nobody

I think I'd much prefer to trade Brown, if possible, and add Lazar to the deal.

Brown, Ceci, Lazar and a 1st.

Next year's draft sucks anyway..

Duchene/Turris/Brassard/Pageau is incredibly strong down the middle, and we really aren't sacrificing anything from the team THIS YEAR.

We keep our two best prospects in Chabot and White, with Chlapik/Englund looking to be decent prospects too.

The more it simmers, the more I think that Dorion is looking at Karlsson and seeing him getting closer to the door- and he's understanding that they need to start winning while this window is open.

Agreed and you shouldn't have any confidence in Dorion. He's a moron who came cheap. He lucked out with Condon. I know about how he conducts business in front of rink management staff in the hallway for all to hear, because most of the time he has family sitting in the management box . The early alarm bell was at the draft when he drafted up 1 spot in the first round to get Logan Brown and could have had the better player (Micheal McLeod). His hiring of Boucher, though looks good now, will wear thin with players, just like it did in Tampa. Have a feeling he is going to deal their first rounder + the stiff (Lazar). He will need to hit a homerun to make up for this stinker. Did he really extend him 2 years?
Hold on Sens fans, it could get scary.

Thanks for the objective thought

It's obvious that Dorion thinks we have a chance this year and he's going for it. That's all. It's like everyone poopting all over Edm for not getting value for Hall... They're now in a playoff position.

did you just compare the hall trade to the burrows trade?

if a GM thinks his team has a shot, and his "going for it" move is bringing in burrows then that GM shouldn't be employed

or we trade a pick or Lazar to Vegas just to say to stay away from our D & goalies at the e-draft... re-sign Condon now, since we wouldn't be afraid of losing him and protect the following forwards:

Turris
Stone
Hoffman
Ryan (NMC)
Pageau
Smith
Brassard
Dzingle

wishful thinking I know! LOL

EDIT: Ryan has a NMC instead of just a modified NTC...

ryan can be exposed......only players with NMC have to be protected, if it's just a NTC they can be exposed without waiving. I would 10000% leave ryan exposed, no chance he gets picked up, and if they do, then hooray for us.
