He can play both wings and on basically any line with any player. Great on the PK and you can toss him on the PP.

With Brown and White coming up he is the perfect winger to play them. He was great with Horvat and Sven.

- mauryballstein

You are aware Burrows will be 36 years old if White can make the team next season. Big if. Brown is 2 years away. Burrows does nothing for the young players not even here this season.

Burrows had some good years, but is on the wrong side of 30 and doesn't bring anything to this team that we didn't already have. Well maybe fluent french/english interviews?

Dumb trade. Even dumber signing.

They just said on sportsnet that Ottawa isn't done yet.... I wonder whats coming next?
- Maverick1818

Well assuming they aren't going for a big time forward and we added our "free NHL forward" (the old acquire an NHL body without losing a roster player) I think they might try to add some insurance on defence. It's been well documented that Ceci has struggled and our 3rd pairing isn't exactly consistent either.

that was my other approach. Thinking if we got a top 4D to move Ceci down to the 3rd pairing to give him more time to get it together

Condon did play well for a stretch, but after tonight his GAA and save percentage will again fall back to average

Everyone said Hammond stunk last year, but Condon's numbers will almost be the same after tonight.

This should at least make him easier to sign

Side note: Zack Smith with a bad second period

They should have only given up a package like Bailey, McCormick and a 4th rounder. Honestly, who would have offered more

Perhaps you ought to give him a shot first.
If you make the playoffs, you will see first hand his worth.

I agree. 2.5 milion per yr x2 isn't a problem. Neither is a 42nd draft pick . The other better prospects they have, he was probably the weakest of the lot.

Overall trade assesment imo ; 6/10 as of today

Most bothersome to me. This was the 3rd or 4th attempt at ringing the Atlantic bell and failed again.

Ya maybe a low prospect and a 3rd /4th, but I don't know what he'll bring that you don't already have? Just hope he can stay out of the penalty box!but good luck guys with the rest of the way!

Buckle up... the are still rumours that Ottawa has interest in Iginla. Hard to figure this one out, especially given that Hoffman and Stone are back in the lineup and they just overpaid for Burrows... but who knows? Maybe they'll go full-blown geriatric and go after both Iginla and Beauchemin? You'd hate to see them miss out on a potentially available 30-something francophone player.

Burrows.....Iginla.......Beachemin...... man I'm so excited... I mean if this was 2010 I'd be off the wall right now. So what if I miss a couple games grabbing movies from blockbuster.

Seriously though, I don't mind iggy or Beachemin but as long as Landeskog OR someone else of significance is here this calendar year

Trying to make sense of the Burrows extension. Only thing Ican think of is he had a NTC , he needed an extension to approve the trade. If true, alot of trouble for a plug, past his prime. I do think Ottawa will make another move or two. They may think this is a year to go for it with a weak Atlantic Division. If they get good match ups, could go a couple of rounds. Make Eugene some money.

They could have tried to make the canucks "eat" hamburglar's contract. That would have helped

the only way this makes sense is if they let Kelly and neil go. the money is a wash and burrows is a better player (which isn't saying much).

I don't hate the trade, but I hate the fact that the team didn't need a depth 4th line move. this move makes the team a fraction better, but they need a lot more than a fraction to compete for a cup. if they were willing to move dahlen for burrows then include him in a bigger package and get a Duchene. not saying we'd be cup contenders with him, but we'd be in the mix in the east for sure.

makes no diff......1 mil of his deal will be buried in the AHL next year anyways. that 300k or whatever doesn't make much difference. now if they could have eaten boro's contract or something that would have been good.

yeah but we're talking about the Sens and Melnyk here always trying to save salary...being in the minors, it "saves" 950k off the cap but he still gets paid full money by the Sens and since we're not a cap team, it doesn't do much...most importantly, it takes a roster spot on a useless player!

Apparently garioch reports that Dorion has a deal on the table for a 2nd round pick for lazar. Holding out for a frist.

Take that and run. If true.

Are there any reports of if he offered him to Vancouver? I think most of us would have liked that better than Dahlen

as long as it's not a full NMC he can still be exposed in the expansion draft.....that's all that matters.

does anyone know if phaneuf has a full NMC or a modified NTC.....cap friendly says he has both, which makes no sense.

trying to get a sense of the expansion draft and who has to be protected. it makes no sense to not trade ceci if we HAVE to protect phaneuf because it means that we'll likely end up losing methot for absolutely nothing.

never mind, their expansion draft tool says he has a full NMC.

that being the case, dorion is stupid if he doesn't move ceci.......if he doesn't we're almost guaranteed to lose either methot or wideman for nothing.
