I'm not liking either. Doesn't Dahlen have a lot more upside than Lazar? Maybe Vancouver wouldn't even take him
- Ottawa Fan

Which would be odd considering Lazar is exactly what Benning seems to favor in a player, all the intangibles except for scoring lol.

If Benning wouldn't touch him.....i think you guys are screwed.

Burrows is garbage, this is basically a Marty Lapointe/Mark Bell type acquisition, except we are actually giving up the equivalent of a late 1st rounder in Dahlen

Isn't exactly a franchise-ruining deal, but did we really need Burrows this badly?

If the deal has a NTC Dorian should be instantly fired

disagree.
Burrows is a soldier.
Can play up and down the lineup.
Terrific on the PK, has speed, hands.
heart and soul guy.

It was time for us to move on from him, but he's well suited to a younger team looking to make noise in the playoffs.

you need to take a step back from the ledge here. While the trade seems pretty lopsided, you aren't getting a pylon in Burrows. He is great on the PK and can play up and down your line up. This trade isn't going to ruin your franchise.

Dont underestimate the amount of leadership and heart the guy brings. Not to mention should you make the playoffs, he is a big game player that does all the small things really well when it counts most.

So many things wrong with this deal. Eugene finally gives the green light to add to the payroll and we acquire and sign Alex Burrows? A 35 year year old whose best years are 5+ years ago? That can't be the game plan, can it?

I'm indifferent about Dahlen. He could be good, but no guarantee. It's too bad that he had to be traded for a guy you could have signed in the summer (If you want him that bad? No idea why anyone would.)

I'm more disappointed about the quality of player brought in. He isn't bringing anything we don't already have. Thanks Canuck posters for the positive vibes, but we already have penalty killing guys, we already have middling players who can play "up and down the lineup, and leadership isn't lacking on this team. Burrows brings nothing of significance and he is now signed for 2 more years.

No idea the logic behind this move. Dorion can still make another move in the next 48 hours, but my confidence in the guy certainly took a hit with this move.

I don't mind Borrows but he is on the wrong side of 30. Stats aren't great and doesn't bring anything new to the team.

the loss of a pretty solid prospect just sucks when he could have been part of a package for something better.

I hope Pierre has something big coming, I wasn't sold on him getting hired in the first place, but this trade just solidifies my thoughts that he isn't a good GM

We are still lacking a #1C. we're a good team but not a great team. We're competing to get in the playoffs, not too win a cup

Agreed and you shouldn't have any confidence in Dorion. He's a moron who came cheap. He lucked out with Condon. I know about how he conducts business in front of rink management staff in the hallway for all to hear, because most of the time he has family sitting in the management box . The early alarm bell was at the draft when he drafted up 1 spot in the first round to get Logan Brown and could have had the better player (Micheal McLeod). His hiring of Boucher, though looks good now, will wear thin with players, just like it did in Tampa. Have a feeling he is going to deal their first rounder + the stiff (Lazar). He will need to hit a homerun to make up for this stinker. Did he really extend him 2 years?
Hold on Sens fans, it could get scary.

Maybe Ottawa was a douchebag away from going a couple of rounds in the playoffs.

With the Brassard and Burrows trade, Dorion has shown that he places a very high value on players who over achieve in big games and in playoffs. I don't love either deal but can live with both.

All of Dorion's signings - Hoffman, Smith - have been great. The Condon trade was great. Overall, I'm comfortable with everything done to date by Dorion.

I was okay with the Hoffman signing, although I think they should have gone a bit higher and longer term. Smith we got for a good deal but we should have traded high on him. I still think we should.

Condon was a deal done out of necessity and nothing else.

I just hate these small nothing moves. We're never going to be a cup contender by tweeking and minor moves. we've already drafted well, we need to build our core and contend for a up and finally finish this never ending rebuild

Benning has made a couple of bad trades. He's also made some good moves to.

Beatrschi and Granlund were both great trades for our team

Filip Chlapik and a cheeky 3rd rounder for Kyle Quincey, probably.

(Honestly, probably something to do with Curtis Lazar)

I would think something with Lazar would be coming but every report says that they still think he can workout.

I just think they've tweeked enough on the low value trades. We need to go big. I still think Duchene should be the one to go after

Or we could take a different approach and get another D to bump Ceci down to the 3rd pairing to let him develop a bit and try to win on defense

Dont sell yourself short. With Anderson in net and playing the way he is the sens have a shot. The team is very well rounded. Hopefully you can sign White and bring up chabot for the playoffs as well.

He can play both wings and on basically any line with any player. Great on the PK and you can toss him on the PP.

With Brown and White coming up he is the perfect winger to play them. He was great with Horvat and Sven.
