So the leafs are in a playoff spot while being 5 games under .500?

Geez..these 3 point games are helping them out.

Lets go boys, whatever it takes...get into the playoffs.
The kids need the experience.

- Fakepartofme

That's where the right billet makes all the difference in the world.

Well maybe not whatever in terms of trades, but yeah if they could get playoff experience this year it would be a huge step above expectations of this year.

Leafs are at 0.566.

They have an overall losing record, but points percentage does not necessarily reflect that.

EDIT: Compare to Calgary who have a worse points percentage, but at 33-26-4 have an overall winning record.

EDIT 2: These numbers don't necessarily reflect everything though. For instance, Leafs have 28 wins and 27 ROW, showing that they suffer in the shootout (1 win in 8). Even a .500 shootout record and now we're at 31-20-10 which looks a lot more respectable.

I still think the NHL should switch to a 3pt system.

Everyone is permitted to have their own opinion.

There were a lot of guys though on here that last year were still big supporters of Neon Dion before he got traded - same guys that now are the first to make fun of Phaneuf and say it was a great trade for the Leafs.

I was always very much favoring Leafs trading Phaneuf, as well as I am now trading Gardiner. Obviously you can all say/think I'm crazy, but IF Gardiner is traded by the Leafs, at least be consistent in a year from now in your views and opinions.

- MaximusAurelius

I believe there were only a couple of fans of Dion left by last year.

Leafs cant afford to trade Gardiner....they are already weak on D. As much as Gardiner has no hockey sense....they simply cannot move him right now.

Unless....its for Trouba

So you're telling me his D game is weak.

I know what you mean but I still go by a loss is a loss.
OTL and regulation losses put them under .500.

But its what Gary wants. Gary's got it!

Well, it puts them with a losing record.

If each game was worth 3 then it'd work out a lot more intuitively

28 20 & 13 is hardly a losing record.

And before any of you start, in the old days, their record would be the same, the winner in overtime is the only one to gain a point..

Absolutely!

And even if we miss, we're going in the right direction and will use that higher pick to get better for the future

This road trip could bury us or send us off into a playoff frenzy.

4 out of 6 points would be beautiful
3 out of 6 not bad

anything less and we could be in trouble.

- Garnie

3 out of 6 would be amazing. This is a tough trip.

Nah-Shattenkirk would be nice I just don't foresee this management group paying the price for him.

28 wins....33 losses. Whether it be in OT or the shoot out...its still a loss.
As Chretien would say....."what kind of loss...its a loss, a loss is a loss"

The NHL can make it "millennial accepted"....but those 13 games are still games they didnt win.

But like I said...if it gets them in the playoffs....then so be it.
