#BREAKING - Habs eyeing Duchene still. Sergachev is in conversation as well. Bergevin is being pressured to get a deal done.

Not sure LTIR helps here UNLESS Hjalmarsson doesn't come back until the play-offs start - like Kane 2 years ago.
- StLBravesFan

That would be fine. If his back is that bad, give him the extra time off to get healthy. Look how long it took Toews to be normal again, half the darn season. That cap relief would help in getting something "bigger" accomplished.
It would also insure playing time for Kempney and Forsling. We probably are not going to catch the Wild anyway with all their games in hand AGAIN !! Hate to concede 1st but my priority would be to get Hammer healthy, use that cap relief to build BIG ( Boyle ) up the middle, and possibly get a tough Dman. ( Polak )

Or.......... if enough cap space is available to fit in Duchene WITHOUT including Hartman or Schmaltz. That's a tall order for SB, but it's not impossible.

If Ottawa wasn't in the hunt, I'd say Zack Smith would be one of the better additions.

This will be how we get a salary cap in the playoffs. I know fans will have an aneurysm about it, i could imagine owners wouldnt be very happy about it either.
- the_dough_boy

TFB about the owners. Hawks can point to the lack of production of Jonathan Toews for 4 months with his back injury. Hammer is a number 1,2 or 3 Dman depending on who you talk to. If his back is going to be a problem in the playoffs, the smart move is to LTIR him. His health comes FIRST !!

The Hawks were 53 and 57% at the dot the first 2 periods.
3rd period a brutal 25%

The good news is 53% defensive zone draws
Toews 80% on defensive zone draws, DAMN
Hawks were 33% in the neutral zone

If the Hawks can win over 50% of the draws in the d zone I'm good with that
But like 2013, 2014 even 2015 they have to go back to the patient sound positional defense that helped them win both Stanley Cups.

Drouin, Boyle and Sustr

For

Kruger, Hinnostroza, Forsling, DeBrincat, Pokka and 2019 1st

Get er done!

- oconstyle85

Dream trade but I like it. Stevie Y too smart for this and would probably get fired for it. Now if he would accept Crawford in the deal instead of puttin all his eggs in Vasilevsky , that woud be interesting. V's numbers not good.

Honestly if Kruger is having issues with his wrist, which is affecting his play, put him on IR and bring Vinny back, love to see him between Jurco and Hossa.

I even like our 4th line better than our 3rd line whenever they are out there they are putting tons of pressure on the opponent.

Only teams I see over paying for Shattenkirk: MTL and NYR. Both win now mode, they can give up 1st rounders plus decent prospects.

Highly unlikely he goes on LTIR. This is a health issue and not a strategic issue. The timing of Kane's LTIR was fortuitous as it turned out. But it was not like Bowman, Q and others had a meeting and said "Kane's injury is not that serious but we could use the cap space". Kane had a legitimate injury with a semi-specific recovery time. If the NHL rules that you have abused the LTIR rules they can charge a penalty and take away your 1st round pick.

If I've done this right - 23 games since January 1:

Line 1 - 22 goals (Toews 10 Panik 7 Schmaltz 5)
Line 2 - 23 goals (Kane 13 Anisimov 6 Panarin 4)
Line 3 - 14 goals (Hartman 9 Hossa 5)g
Line 4 - 7 goals (Keri 5 Hinostroza 2)
Defense - 13 goals

This includes all strength situations, so not all of the goals were scored as lines, but (again if I've done this correctly), pretty good quantity and depth of scoring.

Honestly I don't think he's going anywhere, if he does the Blues are shooting themselves in the foot, unless it's for someone like Duchene, but if its a payroll dump then my money says the team will tank.

Bishop to LA boggles my mind...

1. Is he a rental since he's an UFA after the season?
2. Will he or Quick be dealt in some blockbuster deal?
3. Do the Kings feel Quick's injury is not 100% healed?
4. Both dudes are sort of injury prone, so I wonder if it's just insurance if one goes down, you have the other to be a legit starter...?

Either way, it still seems odd to me...

That's a nice two-line attack, probably directly lines up with change in possession numbers as well. Would be killer to see that third line get more "into the act" a bit. 4th line, meh, just be pesky and maintain o-zone time.

Get Scotty Bowman down to Tampa to talk to his buddy Stevie Y.
- 93Joe

My beef with missing on Hanzal and now going after Boyle to fill the same role is Arizona is easier to talk to about trades than Stevie Y. Stan also has worked out several deals with them in the past. Seeing Bishop get moved def shows the white flag in TB imo, but what will they want in return. Minny overpaid for Hanzal and if that package is used as precedence for Boyle (and you know Stevie will) then yikes.

With that being said, Boyle is 53% at the dot this season.

Interesting stats. Thanks for putting these up. The four line scoring and depth is definitely a nice trend... hopefully it continues into the playoffs.

Ottawa and TB tonight is a big game for both. Should be a decent outing for both teams.

Hey JJ. I know you said the Hawks are looking at Odyua coming back from the Stars, but what other defenseman they rumored to have their eye on? Any other names that you can release?

Looks like they wanted a number one goalie for the stretch run and didn't want to jeopardize Quick's health

Moose is a C by trade isnt he? What are his FO numbers if anyone knows.... Big body who might be better inside come playoff time. Kero has a better all around game at this point and should be the #3 C. Moose at #4 C with Krugs on the wing?

I had the same question myself. Big enough body, wins some draws.....does that do it....or are there nuances that I'm missing?

45.8% for Moose.
53.0% for Boyle.

Boyle/Oduya are the targets now.
