Can you imagine if the Caps are knock out of playoffs first or second round this year - HamiltonHawk
The Hawks won the trade deadline last year and that didn't work out so well. |

I bet Boyle is a little disappointed he's not going to a true contender, though maybe he'll sign an extension there and hope the Leafs are legit next year. - L_B_R
This is a trade I really don't understand, unless the Leafs are going to flip him, trade makes no sense |

Sure I think face offs are important but it doesn't help both Carter and Kopitar are stuck in mud as Granlund flies by them - BetweenTheDots
Almost like they gave the Wild the win. |

The Leafs FO want their youngsters to get some playoff experience, so why not get a guy or two that could help prolong their stay in the playoffs? The Leafs are loaded with prospects and picks, so giving up something here or there isn't going to hurt them. And if Boyle buys in, they might get him to sign there for cheap next year. |

Has St louis given up on the year? This may be the worst trade deadline day ever - HamiltonHawk
I'd say pretty much! |

The condition is that STL will get a 2nd in 2019 (not 2018 as originally reported) if Shattenkirk signs an extension or the WSH make it to the conference finals with Shattenkirk playing in 50% of the games.
Edit to add: there are more fracking conditions. If WSH trades Shattenkirk on/before July 1st, they get an additional 7th round pick. If the return for the trade is a 4th round pick or better, that 7th turns into a 5th or the next available pick two rounds later than the earliest pick received by WSH.
This officially negates the Oshie trade btw - they have nothing left from it. Copley was the last remnants. |

No doctor either, but much like the flu that goes around every few years, illnesses can mutate and make previous vaccines pretty well useless. If this happens before a booster shot can be made to counteract the virus, the cycle goes on and on - AusHawk
^This. Plus vaccination rates in recent years have declined due to the "anti vaccination movement." Herd immunity decreases, allows for viruses to mutate easier. Those who travel frequently are also at greater risk of picking up vaccine preventable illnesses. Lots of factors that can come into play. |

As an observer of Capital's hockey for many decades...
...yes, yes I can. |

LA's weakness has been and still is lack of team speed. They compensate by size and structure but sometimes speed just beats them - like tonight. The Wild are going to be a tough out this year. |

Hard seeing teams loading up right now and not seeing a Hawks response yet. Do not want an overpay obviously but the top teams are making moves to improve. Hope they can pull something off |

Actually they didn't...Ladd was a good move despite all of the noise to the contrary...Ladd was fitting in nicely with Hossa and Kruger and led the team in hits in that first (only) series...
And that's because Bowman screwed the pooch by not getting the #4dman he needed since the parade and instead his first move was resigning his pet Runny. And we all saw how that worked out in game 7 against the Blues.
He also managed to give up a good young center in Danault (who we could use right now) for hot garbage.
I'm interested to see what Stan does here, hopefully an improvement over the last couple of offseasons and TDLs...he finally moved Shaw for picks this spring and didn't wait like he did on Sharp and Leddy...so let's hope he can get a couple of things done here...
meantime the Caps and Minni have improved...

For Chicago it's not about making the biggest move this season it's about making the best move for the team. An upgrade on defense and/or a solid veteran centre for the bottom 6 would suffice. |

That first rounder will be more like a second, AND they still keep 39% of Shattenkirk on the payroll. Highway robbery...
I'm not complaining...

My wish for tomorrow is to get a 3C that can score a bit and win face offs(preferably someone with a last name that begins with the letter "H" so we can counter the Penguins HBK line with our "Triple H" line):
STP
PAK
Hartman-3C-Hossa
Kruger-Kero-Hinostroza/Jurco |
