I'm not sure if there was a lack of interest or Byron Froese has some cache....All I know for sure is teams like Toronto and Ottawa need veteran know how although they are unlikely to win the Cup.

But if a veteran can come in a teach a bit and relax the kids maybe they play another series or even a few more games than they would have...If so that's experience you can't gain from a book.

The Blues are more than a couple of pieces away from being a true contender this year, though, and they couldn't let Shattenkirk walk for nothing this summer after getting nothing for Backes and Brouwer going all in last year. I'd be mad that they didn't improve the team sooner, but Blues fans should have been resigned to this fate for a little bit now.

I know there are some here who dont think faceoffs are important. I know its 3 on 3 ot but watch the finish of the Wild/Kings game which started with a faceoff win and that play doesnt happen without it.

Sure I think face offs are important but it doesn't help both Carter and Kopitar are stuck in mud as Granlund flies by them

Can you imagine if the Caps are knock out of playoffs first or second round this year
