Respectfully, I'm assuming this won't end in this blog for a very long time so I have a question. Of the 21k at the UC how many do you think even knows there is a TDL and those who do how many care? Meaning when StanBowPops&McD (who have a very friendly gagle of reporters as you have mentioned) lie and say we've pursued Jurco for 6 weeks who is their intended audience?
If it's Hawk fans not many pay attention to that and aren't going to cancel their season tix if no move is made or cancel their Kaner jersey they ordered if they do pay attention. And if it's other GM's you don't believe they believe StanBows spin or any other GM's spin do you?
So who would you guess is StanBows intended audience when he says we like our team or we were after player A and got him, in this case Jurco? - Mr Ricochet

Smith led all D men in 5v5 SZV adjusted rel CF% last season. Just sayin' - Feds91Stammer
Didn't his stock kinda drop in Detroit thug after being a few years ago the real up and comer (along with DeKeyser)?
I will say, Smith was one of three Wing names I heard the Hawks were inquiring about: Tatar, Vanek, Smith (that was of course before the Double Secret Six Week Pursuit of Jurco was revealed through LeBrun)

In betweener. Him and Green were our best pair but Dekeyser sucked so bad they had to pair Green with him to prop him up. Smith has been banged up a bit but has been solid when playing with a generally slow and brain dead Ericsson. |

Hawks had a physical Forward that had some skill and could have probably scored on occasion in Dale Weiss...and they never played the man - Hank3Henshaw
And Dale Weise hasn't scored since lol |

Good to know JJ. Getting Oduya back is only a good add if he doesn't get FLEECED again. AND.......... even though Schmaltz is looking great, do you actually think that Q wants to start the playoffs with him taking on that kind of pressure/workload as a rookie. I certainly don't want him involved in any deal but at the same time, I'm hoping that they're not planning on putting all that pressure on him. This team still needs a top 6 forward addition to be legitimate contenders this year. IMO. - Hawkytalk
To go a step further how many total rookies is Q comfortable dressing in the playoffs.............What I've been wondering as Schmaltz explodes expectations to this point is what will be his position in 2-3 years? Will this silky kid with plus hands/touch and elite vision make it as a center?
I was gonna list top 10 teams an some of the funk they have in their top 6 but this site is so invasive it would take 5 hours to post and infect my machine. Click on line combos and take a look see at some top 6's: http://www.leftwinglock.com/line-combinations/

Rico, really?
Well, all I will tell you is the two busiest times for site traffic here and across the web on hockey sites are, every year . . . February . . . and June. BY FAR. I'm not "making that up." That is an overwhelmingly true fact.
Who comprises that traffic? Fans. (and some team employees, trust me)
Why? Trade deadlines.
So when you say the 21K fans at the UC "don't care," the further implication is the hundreds of thousands of tv viewers also don't.
Point of fact, not true. They do care. That's why this (frank)ing site exists, and many more like it, and more all the time.
I do advertising in my day job and have for decades. I also study politics. Framing expectations for your brand or for yourself is a fine and important skill. Bowman is doing that.
As do other GMs and executives.
And yes, I do think secondarily, the spin is also meant to make it appear to other teams that the Hawks are not desperate or not to tip their hand.
Believe what you want. It's a free country. People do believe what they WANT to believe a lot these days. That's how we got Alternative Facts, which I don't care what your politics are, is essentially a nice name for bullpoop.
If you believe they pursued a guy for six weeks, who was a healthy scratch most nights, and finally pried him away with a third round pick, I'm not sure there's anything I can say to change how you think. You're a smart guy though. Come on, man. |

Smith is literally Schultz 2.0 imo. Never put in the right position to succeed. Last years of Babcocks tenure he was in the dog house because he didn't fit the low event system they deployed to hide the lack of mobility on D. Played very well last season but had some injuries this year. |

Won't be cheap. Demand would be high. Going off of Bowman not wanting to trade his rookie forwards... I, personally, would do (if the hawks have these picks... I didn't look): 2017 2nd, 2018 2nd, Alex Debrincat.

Nice photoshop (as always). In all fairness, I think Stan is working real hard. Getting trades done is hard work (no red font). |

Well again, my man, I can speak from some close up personal experience with this fan base, since 2010, that has really changed. The Hawks are a big deal in Chicago and across North America. Maybe not quite as front and center as th eLeafs, but they are a big deal as far as size of fan base and scope. And yes, the fans expect and obsess a lot. |

If Q started Tuevo in the playoffs, I'm sure Schmaltz is in. |

I can't take full credit for this one, I found it years ago and I've been waiting for the right time to use it.
I agree that Stan is making lots of calls, that's his job. He'll try to improve the team but I doubt he overpays for a rental. |
