Gotta feeling if these Boyle/Duchene tweets prove true then the Hawks are, in fact, focusing on Oduya or another d-man and maybe a lower profile depth forward. Ya never know though and my grapevine has been quiet since this AM.

When you have a puck possession team like the Hawks, I feel the face-offs are more important. Less time chasing.

And, like said before in many discussions, if you can win the draws, in the offensive/defensive zones, late in playoff games no matter the score (up 1, tied, down 1)... it is huge.

- slarm

I believe in an ideal world we all want what you described in both of your points. Definitely agree with what you shared. The 1st point, though, is where the Hawks are deficient: not necessarily puck possession but more so puck retrieval. If the team isn't good at winning faceoffs, it would stand to assume that the next best thing is to be great at getting the puck back and doing so in a way that doesn't have you chasing the other team wasting energy and getting out of position.

Why do I get the feeling that by Wednesday afternoon the only thing the Hawks will do is bring Campoli out of retirement.

Last season I'm told, #Blackhawks expressed strong interest in Chara. Were willing to offer 2nd rd pick. Never got to waiving NMC point

- hawkeytalkman

I never heard that, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Gotta wonder if the Little Slovakia culture they're building, his best buddy Big Hoss and another legit shot would be enough for him to waive. Also if the Hawks would be willing to chump up a bit more.

He's not what he once was but definitely a serious physical load for other teams to deal with in tightly checked playoff hockey.

First, Boston still in the hunt so I doubt they trade their captain.

Second, even if Boston retained 50%, it still wouldn't work with the Hawks cap space.

Oh sure, depends what they get. Minnesota just got a little deeper and tougher to handle. It's not like they are the '85 Oilers.

The Bowmans definitely have something up their sleeve. Probably see Johnny O a hawk within the next 36 hours.

Boston would have to take a salary back (like Kruger for example). You're right, pretty outlandish.

Based on what I hear last night/this morning, and who I heard it from (three separate good sources) I would say the Hawks are going maximum overdrive after Oduya. Dallas has to dance though and Bowman should NOT get hosed twice by Nill in a deal for Oduya.

There are LOTS of potential deals out there. Everyone is focused on Montreal, the Rangers, Colorado, NYI, Boyle, Duchene, Shattenkirk.

Drop in the bucket.

The other deals may not be as "sexy," but they're out there.

I think we could get through MN right now, as constructed. The last 2 games we played were great against them, plus the whole owning them in the playoffs thing. If the Hawks keep this level of play up, we'd advance for sure.

Gotta admit, I am a big fan of Radek Faksa from Dallas.

How did this deal slip past everyone: https://www.nhl.com/light...izona-coyotes/c-287122988

Morin moved again, lets see, that ATL->CHI->CLB->CHI->TOR->SJ->TB->ARI and he still can't find a spot on an NHL team.

Seems like a step backwards.

Chara is like 39.

That would be great. I'd be happy to go into the playoffs with what we have now and the addition of Oduya. Assuming Hammer will be back to 100%, thaddition of Oduya gives the Hawks the same top-4 as 2013 and 2015 plus they have Kempny who has improved enough to be a solid #5. Campbell/TvR provide depth, but Q usually ends up playing only 5 d-men as the playoffs progress anyway.

Relax
TD moves rarely equate into a Cup
I thought Ladd put the Hawks over the top this time last year

Not so much

I am with you...I could care less if we get Duchene or the "sexy" name...Just think we need the Oduya add, and another veteran scoring winger. Maybe Oduya and Sharp? Oduya and Vrbata or Oduya and Vanek I would be good with.

at 50% its more workable than it seems.

Hawks are sitting at about $3 mil in cap space right?
Chara at 50% this year is $3.46 mil

Next year his cap hit drops to $4 mil so he would only count for $2 mil on our cap

I mean if anything, waive Tootoo and go light one forward for the remainder of the season

Chara is noticeably worse than he was. Age catches up to a big guy like that. I wouldn't want him around next year.
