why are they waiting to bring latta up? what is the deal with him? a post trade deadline call up/cap saver? - frafra
Because he's likely not better than anyone else on the team. |
|
|
|
Probably the latter of what you stated. Probably waiting for Desi to be traded. - 93Joe
Desi isn't bad at the dot if i remember correctly. |

Is a FO specialist top priority at this point? - Feds91Stammer
I don't think a "specialist per se, but a guy who can be 50%+ and kill penalties—in the same body? A very nice to have. 55%+ even better.

so should Stan trade Darling and a 5th for a prospect and a 7th round pick...versus lose him for nothing? - PatShart
How do you know they're going to lose him? |

I was more was more throwing out there that if Stan would have made a similar trade for darling amd a 5th for a prospect and a 7th...because he's an UFA, he'd be torched
And Yzerman does it and it's "getting something for nothing" ...well, more like got nothing for a 2x recent Vezina finalist |

If you win a faceoff on a powerplay, you have a better chance to score, rather than chasing the puck.
If you win a faceoff on a penalty kill, you can kill off 20+ seconds by clearing the puck all the way down.
The higher the percentage, the better the odds you'll win that draw. - tompo1015
Look no further than the toews goal last night,it all started with toews winning the draw, play goes down the ice and a goal, faceoffs very important, especially in the playoffs |

Gotcha.
Well, without going down the summer moves I've heard about rabbit hole, one thing that seems to now be a common underlying theme is supplementing the "core" with good, younger cost-controlled guys.
I also think it's fairly safe to say that with a reasonable new deal, Darling is still one of those guys.
Crawford is the one "core" guy who can be traded (in terms of contracts).
But the Hawks are also serious about going deep this year and maybe all the way, so neither is going anywhere barring a hugely unforeseen eventuality, in the next 2 days, or therefore the rest of the season.
There will be more to talk about in June, and things CAN change, but . . . |

That pass between the defender's legs was a thing of beauty by Schmaltz, all credit to the captain for the FO win and the finish, but that play was all about Schmaltz |

Don't forget Panik with the nifty cross-ice pass to Schmaltz. It was a 150 ft tic-tac-toe. |

OK JJ having trouble with Eklund's report? MacKinnon and Drouin reunited thats what is holding up the Duchene deal. Looking at the contract/Math with Tampa they are in worse shape than the hawks. Ok maybe Drouin has no intension on resigning so they maybe want to move him or get nothing. Fine but Duchene would be 6mil cap next year they [Tampa] are going to be seriously in the red next year adding money to Hedman and Vasilevskiy and still having 8 or so free agents to deal with. Palat, Boyle, Johnson ect......... I realize there are ways but they are going to be 5 or so Million in the red. Those guys arent going to take pay cuts. Very interested to see how this spins out. I am not a rocket scientist but i am add. Sort of |

No doubt, great pass by schmaltz,he's turning into a great player, just stating that this play maybe doesn't happen without the face off win. If they lost the draw they might of been chasing the puck in their own zone for 20-30 secs, just shows the importance of face off wins, great play all around, nice pass by panik, even better pass by schmaltz, and great finnish by the captain |

It was sweet to see the 1st and 3rd goals be tic-tac-toe plays. You see teams do breakout drills all the time so it was nice to see the Hawks make short quick passes to generate goals rather than banking on the stretch pass or telegraphed plays like the backdoor one-timer to Panarin (or Sharp in years past).
Even the give-and-go between Toews and Kane was based on a strong transition from D-to-O with short quick passes between 19 and 88 after Keith started the breakout. |

Do you think there Is anyway STL would trade shattenkirk to the hawks. It would clearly have to be a better retrun then someone in the East. But If we offered 1st and forsling would STL turn that down just because its the hawks? I know they mention NYR and MON, Right now it looks like STL is either the 2nd wild card or 1st team out. that would mean they would get MINN and Then Chicago. with LA trying to get into that 8 slot. What is STL loses Tuesday and STL decides to sell does it really matter its to the hawks? Without Shat they probably miss the playoffs so it does not matter if he goes east or west. it should be the best return. |

Here is my hypothesis......Hawks will end up with Oduya for DesJardins and Pokka and end up with Duchene for Kruger, Forsling, Fortin, and a 1st.
Schmaltz Toews Panik
Panarin Anisimov Kane
Hartman Duchene Hossa
Jurco Kero Rasmussen

Yeah I feel you are comparing apples and hand grenades here.
Bishop was gone from a cap space and expansion draft standpoint. They have a young stud 22 year old goalie that is the clear future in net.
The nothing he got is a 19 RHD that was a 2nd round pick in 2015 and has played on Slovakia's WJC U20 team 4 times. |
