The prices from M-Thursday aren't terrible overall when I'm going. The problem is it doubles for Friday night, so that day is driving up the overall cost. I can stay at the Venetian with the promo for an average of $164 a night, so that's probably what I'm going to do. Signature at MGM Grand, the Palazzo, Vdara, Aria, and The Delano are all around that same price. Just not sure which is the better one to stay at.

Well, that sucked...

Anyway, on a completely unrelated note, I'm booking a trip to Vegas and was wondering if anyone has any hotel suggestions. Currently, I'm leaning toward The Venetian, but any other recommendations would be appreciated.

It all depends on your budget. If you have money to burn the Belliago or the other Steven Wynn properties. You want to keep it cheap but still stay someplace decent, I would say the Stratosphere. I got a room there for 60 bucks a night and it wasn't bad at all. They have a hard time getting people to stay since there at the far end of the strip, so quality rooms are marked down, buffet is decent and cheap, and the casino is never crowded.

Are we or were we really ever that close? We came within 3 points when we had a bunch of games in hand on teams. Now that's gone and we are 4 games from a Wild Card or 3rd in the division. That's not really close in a league with this much parity

This and your goal shouldn't be just to barley squeak in just to say you did it. Because you know what comes after that. An ass kicking and total embarrassment.

Any of those properties are really nice. They are all of the luxury-end of the hotels.

If you want to get away from the strip for a night try the Crown and Anchor on East Tropicana. It's just a short taxi ride away from the strip, has about 50 beers on tap, steel tip darts and always a soccer or rugby game on. I spent many nights there and the crowd is always fun.

Well, this year that would be acceptable. Eichel injury or not, not being really close is unacceptable, ESPECIALLY when the Leafs are close

I'm one of the few on here that didn't believe the playoffs this year was attainable.

Thanks. I'm trying to keep track of some of the places people are saying to check out. Have a note going on my phone of all of this. Neither myself or my b/f have been to Vegas, so I feel like I'm going into this blind. Asked a few friends but wanted to get some more opinions from a different group of people.

Have been to Vegas twice. First time stayed off strip and rented a car. Stayed at the Sun Coast which was really nice and had cheap tables. We would drive to the strip and park the car for the day and walk. Also went to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon.

Last year we went with my wife's parents and stayed at the Tropicana. It was also very nice but I didn't pay for it so I have no idea what it cost. Personally, if we went again by ourselves, I would stay off strip again. It was much cheaper even with renting a car. Things have changed though. A lot of the casinos charge for parking now and they didn't the first time we went.

I highly recommend doing the Hoover Dam tour and if you are willing to lose a whole day drive to the Grand Canyon. If you are there on a Sunday find a Champagne Brunch. The Mirage had a good one and so did MGM.

Not going on a Sunday. We're actually going to NYC for the weekend and then flying to Vegas on Monday and then leaving Saturday to come home. We were definitely thinking about doing the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam at some point, just not sure when. We're not renting a car at all, so unless they have tour group type things that take you out there (I'm assuming they do), not sure if we'll get to go.

Either one of you Military by chance? All the hotels give a free upgrade to Military. I was stationed 2 hours away for 5 years so that was always nice.

Because they are paid to provide defense perhaps?
- fastek

And great defense they provided. They're our weakest pair and biggest turnover threat. The screened Nilsson and didn't even attempt to clear the front. Compounded by the fact Okposo pealed off the point guy, given him a clean shot, for no apparent reason = goal.

There are definitely Grand Canyon tours, I assume Hoover Dam as well. Check Groupon and TravelZoo for some good deals.

Hoover Dam does tours, they will be cheap to because she is there during the week. Its really nice now to that the new suspension bridge is done there.

The dead weight list is an overreaction imo
For example:
Moulson has more goals than ALL of our call-ups combined

- jdfitz77

And a solid chunk of that came when he got pp time with eichel out. He generates next to nothing at 5 mil. That's the definition of dead weight.
