I really think the only piece that we are missing is a 3rd line center that is good on faceoffs and can score a little. That will give us good depth for the playoffs.

If there is a way to get a #4 d-man that will be just perfect.

Part of me thinks that they will announce a deal around game time tonight like they did with the Ladd trade last year.

Would have been easier to just post that no players traded at the deadline will be going to Chicago, Stanbo overvaluing his assets.

keep adding more depth if it doesn't cost much. if oduya can be had for cheap to bolster the blue line, why not? if they can get another center for an affordable price, why not? if they can get another wing who can help later on, why not? every player can make an impact from series to series.

i think of versteeg in 2015. didn't play at all in the WCF against anaheim. I thought he played really well and helped contribute during the stanley cup against tampa bay. if the hawks have the assets to make moves, why not continue to add more depth?

Again, just what I am hearing and what I have not heard:

1) OVERALL: Hawks are working (talking/listening) on multiple fronts, lots of teams calling (some of which maybe teams returning calls)

2) They did not really "go after Jurco under the radar" so much as his name came up in another conversation about another player—he was NOT the main target

3) Names I have heard in the last 48 hours: Burrows, Hanzal, Oduya, the two young Ottawa forwards (but I am sure the Hawks' convos are not limited to just those players)

4) having heard the Hawks connected to Brendan Smith several times in the last couple of weeks, I think that is legit, and it would seem they are legitimately looking at defense, Hjalmarsson's health may be driving this

5) Have not heard Vanek's name in the last couple of days, not sure if those talks are dead or not
