JR and Jones talking up Hanzal.

Right now, the Hawks really could use a another centerman who can win draws, preferably a guy who can handle the rough going.

- John Jaeckel

Thought Hanzal would have been a major fill to their needs. Double kick in the groin to see him go up North.

What other options do you see out there to fill that size and FO% they could use up the middle?

Sure 215 is big no doubt, to me, my opinion, the guys who really can/do have a big impact in a 7 game playoff series are guys who are unusually bigger and can skate and and are willing to throw their weight around, getting checked by someone who is 10-15 pounds heavier isn't as big a deal when getting checked by a player who's 30 to 40 pounds heavier.
- BetweenTheDots

I'm still confused then about your assessment of the Wild not having many heavy forwards - because you then listed that they had two, which was more than all but maybe 2-3 other teams in the league. They can't have more than most teams but then not have many, you know? That's why I was asking, cause it doesn't seem to be a linear comparison.

I don't disagree that a heavy forward like that can help in a long series, though. One would be nice, certainly - most of the last cup winners did have one such forward. Penguins did it last year with none, though.

Yeah, Ott's a bit long in the tooth at this point. But that profile of player, tough as you know what to play against, good in the dot.

Q's response to TVR lack of getting the puck out of the zone.......

Not to worry, Rosy making the big push now for TVR's job in the playoffs.

Explain to me how it is overpayment by Min to get Hanzel? The first this year will be a high round pick (in a weak draft), and the next 2 years are crapshoots at best. IT was a give-away. Damn Phoenix. Absolute minor-league franchise.

Still a good agitator to play 6-8 mins a night in the playoffs. He takes quite a bit of dumb penalties though. Part of that role I suppose.

Agree 100%. The Wild have a bunch of very good young players and prospects and rookie GM Analytics Genius Chayka couldn't even pry one of them away in the deal.

Hartman is more than enough of an agitator for the Hawks. He's like Bolland-lite in his ability to draw penalties and make other people made without doing anything obvious.

The weak draft thing is overblown. 2012 was considered a weak draft too and go look at all the good players from that class. Also Hanzal isn't that great.

You notice that the delayed penalty pressure the Hawks have is better than the PP itself.....

Bashing Chayka when he got more than adequate value out of Hanzal is hysterical analytics hating.

Thanks DK, appreciate it. We lost Candy WAY TOO soon!!! Underrated comedic actor in my book. And no one said we can't have a little fun while we talk about our favorite team.....no?

- ILGolfer

You got that right. Such an amazing comedic delivery. He and Phil Hartman are by far two of the biggest gone too soon comedians (In a very long list)

I've always really liked Glendennig's game.

He's not as hard to play against since Babs left. Starting next year he makes over 2 mil a year. Expensive 4th liner on a long term deal.

I don't really know how to explain it other than to say the Wild really don't have a guy of this size and skill. Sure they have bigger forwards but to my eye those forwards don't play big, they play more of an up tempo speed game, does that mean Hanzal will fill that role I don't know but he will be effective at the dot and in front of the net.

Looks like the refs are changing the rule book on the fly tonight.

How was that a high stick?
