Yeah, problem is, the person who provided the Edmonton assessment played in the NHL. Matthew McConnaughy, not so much.
Just something to think about. |

Stalberg is a UFA and I would bet that this time he won't complain about playing time. |

Sounds like the Arizona Coyotes are finalizing a trade involving Martin Hanzal right now |

Thanks JJ and Tommy! Hanzal and a 3rd pair Dman would really put this team in as good a spot as anyone for the playoff run. Dzingel is exceptionally skilled and another Chicago kid. Forsling for Dzingel?? |

Ha, well played, D.
No, but that dope doesn't deserve one either.
Well, to be fair, he did lose a poop ton of weight to play himself in Dallas Buyer's Club. So there's that. |

Your guess is as good as mine right now.
What a Hanzal deal to anyone will do is loosen up and clarify the market. You should then see some more forward deals. One of which could likely involve the Hawks. |

Operative term: you should then see more deals
The "popular point of view" (today) has Hanzal going elsewhere.
I actually think he makes a lot of sense for the Hawks though and I know they were very interested when AZ was in town and were encouraged by progress in talks by the time they left town, to be revisited.
But if someone drove the bidding up to "overpay," then I think the Hawks are not in it. |

Hanzal trade imminent. Hearing bidding war between OTT and MTL.
Take it for what it's worth. Montreal makes a lot of sense, and I would expect him to end up there at this point. |

You mean like Frolik, Handzus, Bickell, Shaw and Saad? That's really not true.
And I will submit, as do others who know a lot more about the game than I do, push the Hawks to the outside, make them try to do everything on the perimeter, is the way to beat them.
Point taken on Edmonton. You can argue Talbott beat Crawford that night, but I did see a lot of Hawk shots coming from the perimeter, and a lot of Hawk forwards getting pushed around by Larsson and Gryba, as did someone else I know (at least, those were his words, not mine, I don't make poop up). - John Jaeckel
JJ, I'm happy to give you and your guy the last word on this but replacing those you named with Anisimov, Panik, Rasmussen, Hartman and maybe Jurco are as big or bigger than the guys you mention. .........Many a cup year the Hawks got tossed around in a series.
I'm sure if the Hawks can add size all things being equal they will. This is one area where I stand down as I'm proven wrong, that the Hawks need to get bigger. Said that for a long time but they just keep winning.

Pointless to overpay for a role player.
I like Chicago's approach.....im sure something will get done somewhere else.
Mngt did not win 3 cups without knowing what to do !

I have been saying Montreal based on a mood of desperation
Will be curious what the deal is.
Bergivin maybe looking for a job with our
Summerside Capitals next year !
It was good enough for Gerard Gallznt formerly off the Florida panthers

It's obvious Kruger isn't 100% - if he were he would be taking faceoffs. Therefore, shut him down for the rest of the season (LTIR) and use his prorated $3.1M cap hit to provide more cap space for Stan to acquire a player. (aka - the Kane collar bone gambit).
Then entice AZ to trade Hanzel and retain 50% and Dallas to trade Oduya and retain 50%. Easy peasy. |

6. Sharp - SJS/FLA/ANA/CGY/CBJ
7. Boyle - TOR/MTL/SJS/CBJ/FLA
8. Vrbata - WSH/CBJ/PIT/NYR/OTT - pdx2ord
Weird that there are exactly 5 teams in on each of these guys. |
