I saw flashes of the old Giroux in the Washington game. I'm still waiting to see the report on why Giroux was scratched last night. Did you see anything on that? - MJL
Are you joking as in G didn't show up or was he benched later in the game? I did not notice him benched if that's the case. And that could speak volumes of his ineffectiveness and his lack of standing out on the ice |

He tried his hardest to get the puck from Lars Eller against the wall and couldnt..who was effectively shielding it while taking everything giroux had.
He tried his hardest to not get caught by Kevin Klein on a clean break with a 15 ft start, and got run down and bodied off the puck
This is the '16-17 giroux and no coaching is going to polish up this turd. I say keep him and hope he rebounds to what he was even 2 years ago - Just5
No hope of this, he's garbage, certified G, as in garbage.
He was bad in last years playoff and said he was healthy, then we find out his hip was (frank)ed up, no excuses.
Garbage. |

So is the argument for G is that he's playing the wrong system for him? (left wing lock) I didn't back read every post... |

No.
the argument is I have no (frank)ing idea of what I'm talking about, the coach is a stoic mastermind genius, & Giroux is complete garbage.

I was just using that system as an example, not exactly THAT SYSTEM.
Just employing a collapsing defensive system will not increase scoring for anyone.
Just an example, that's all. |

Systems are over rated?
ok, he sucks big time, we should move him.......no wait, he's garbage with an $8 million a year tag, forget moving him unless we eat 1/2 the salary.
Maybe take the C away from him, and sit him next to Mason.
20-21 is the next goal, (it was 16-17), but it takes longer, so we suck it up. - puckhead17
Giroux has flourished in very similar systems all his career ....I'm simply pointing out that is not or shouldn't be the reason for his decline...

I'm.going to post this as much as possible until it changes.
A small, non physical, team lacking speed and skill with awful goaltending.
That sums up this collection of stiffs perfectly. - PLindbergh31

Someone else in here pointed out this coach plays not to lose, instead of playing to win.
Roenick used to be at odds with Hitchcock over the tight defensive system, and the fact they couldn't utilize any offensive skills they had.
Lavalette played offensive, all the time, go, go, go.
But systems are over rated, so it doesn't matter, G doesn't stand for Giroux, it stands for garbage.

The only system a player needs to remember.
Forecheck, Backcheck......pay check....for the Canadians in the group pay cheque.....the rest of it is to just know where you should go when you don't have the puck. |

Argue all you want, but a system change isn't going to bring back Giroux from 3 years ago.....it's on the player.

Paul Stastny wasn't producing $hit for 3 years under Hitchcock, ($7M a year), coaching change and he's been a point a game since.

More teams play a collapsing defensive zone coverage than don't. Those teams have a lot of top scorers on it. It is actually a team's ability to forecheck, and break up plays in the neutral zone, to create turnovers and transition offense that create more quality offensive chances. Note the first Pittsburgh goal last night.

You can pull all the poop out of your ass that you want....it doesn't make it true. Giroux gets top minutes at even strength and Pp.....how's that on the coach? With that said, if they suck this bad next year at this same time we may find out if the coach has something to do with it.

You tell me.
Did Paul Statsny just wake up 10 games ago and remember how to play?
130 points in 193 games as a Blue, at $7m a year.
it's an example, thats all. |
