For now his value is high. At this point he's our best player and will want to be paid as such when his contract is up.
We're (frank)ed if we keep him and (frank)ed if we trade him.
Blow the damn team up and do it the right way. - MikesPillBottle
The more and more I study this....it comes up trading simmonds almost every time for a variety of reasons. So many reasons including organizational depth at RW and our top forward prospect Linblom having amazing talents in and around the net. A sure PP piece.
It just screams to me move simmonds for the betterment of the team

My only concern is that if they move Simmonds now it's basically putting us into full on rebuild mode. G and Jake are only going to look worse without him. Can you really justify keeping those guys if you're willing to sell Simmonds at this point? |

Why? Did when we trade Carter/Richards put this team into full rebuild? And the fact is we're already in a rebuild, near the end of it. Unless you think this is contention. |

I was at my daughter's dance recital last night and not once did I wish or think about watching this game. That's all that needs to be said, see this team next season when they hopefully look completely different and can score goals. - LJF
Considering they have 7 UFA's and I think most won't be resigned - if any, AND they will lose 1 more thru the expansion draft... This team will look drastically different next year, to the tune of 8 new faces, potentially. |

The situation was different. Giroux was one of the top players in the league, they had a much better defense, and players such as Briere, Hartnell, Read who was a 20 goal scorer, etc.

See the 2nd part of my post that you didn't quote. If they trade Simmonds now that only further makes it harder on G and Jake to produce until whatever prospect we get filters into the NHL.
I'm basically saying that I think if you're going to move Simmonds you might as well look for suitors for the other vets on the team as well. Trading Simmonds right now would be a clear cut full scale rebuilding move. |

The way G is playing he might be immovable. Jake can be moved but it would depend on the return. They don't have to look worse if we lose simmonds that's the thing. If the flyers could get a top near ready NHL center prospect that would be tremendous...like a Joel Ericsson ek.
How much worse off would the flyers be if they can put schenn at the position he looks best at RW while bringing lindblom in to play his natural left side with centers Erickson ek and rubstov in the pipeline. Plus more that would come back.
What's going on now isn't working. They're not close to anything |

Yeah, they really need a solid top 6 center prospect. Colin White might be a kid I'd have my eyes on. I'd love to see them make some sort of deal with the Coyotes for Strome but that might cost just too much. |

Yea Colin white...players like that. Simmonds could get them +. When it comes down to it jake drives play big time. Simmonds is not that caliber of player but trade value is probably equal to jake |

No, right now it honestly is literally terrible. My gf broke up with me last night, match is right around the corner, and I miss my grandmom who died in december. So this is me letting out all those lovely feelings to a bunch of faceless usernames on the internet. No rest for the weary though, have to (frank)ing save some (frank)ing lives in the (frank)ing ED tomorrow when I don't know what the (frank) I'm doing. Can't wait for my preceptor to (frank)ing be a Richard to me just like she is every (frank)ing day, and make me feel like a (frank)ing idiot during our topic discussion on ACLS tomorrow.
Sorry. |

Guys within the organization, guys who we acquire come in to fill the void. That's what happens. Say we center a trade around Puljujarvi+ for example (doesn't have to be him, but that's what Simmonds could net)....we have Lindblom coming in next year. It's not trading something for nothing with no return for 5 years and a hole that can't be filled.....and all the while other roster holes are also being filled concurrently. The fact is we're already in a rebuild, or near the end of it. Not saying I'd make the trade, and not this minute, but WITH Simmer we are in rebuild mode. Simmonds is doing just as poorly as everyone else. He always just gets absolved. Matt Read is scoring at the same level he is 5v5. Like the rest of them, being on the PP1 just keeps his stats from being in the toilet. He's an awesome player, but his value is always overstated to this team. He's not the difference between a full on tank and not.
There's a difference you keep ignoring between Simmonds and the other vets, because I already posted it. They're not movable on those contracts without selling low. Look at the Kessel trade, and that's what you want to do for Voracek. You literally just the other page wrote about trading Voracek for Timo Meier, and now you say, "But trading Simmonds means full rebuild....we can't do that! So let's trade the actual more important player in Voracek for less of a return!" Simmonds might be the most valuable trade asset in the league, especially with that contract. That's the difference. The market would be absurd, and we could acquire serious blue chippers that better fit the window and who don't need a 7 year contract at age 31, when the window still might not be open. |

I know how you feel. Keep your head up, better times are coming. Sorry to hear about your grandmom. As far as the gf, you may not know it now, but you're better off. Somebody better in your future.

The 2nd episode was a tad exposition heavy setting up a lot of the story, supporting characters, setting, etc. Jumping in there would be awkward, and it's a show that is a bit out there to begin with. The pilot is one of the better ones I've seen, and it's ofc where you should start if you actually wanted to try to watch it. It's longer and at a more leisurely pace, like a movie, to establish the tone and main characters. |

Thank you. Bravo.
You could put simmer on the market and teams could potentially take an under 2 mil cap charge on the remainder of his contract.
Every team could make that work. Demand through the roof. But its an apparent apocalyptic situation to some

Haven't read everything on here, but I'll just say the absolute last person the Flyers should think about trading is Voracek. |
