No you don't build around a guy like Simmonds. Listen, I love the guy, he's the prototypical flyer and all that. But we know that the rest of the league loves him AND his contract too. He is a massive trade chip that could bring back a young piece that we CAN build around.
What if we can trade him to a team like Minnesota who has aging vets and they STILL can't beat Chicago the last couple times they played them. They may be desperate to get over the top.
Simmonds could get Joel Erickson Ek and a 1st....no doubt in my mind. You have to take a look at trades like this. - Just5

Interesting bishop misses practice because of the flu. Legit or conspiracy theory, hmmm...... I'm all on board with 2 new goalie options next season. Filling internally or externally, this has been a brutal season of goaltending, no way to sugar coat it |

Timo Meier I'm hoping. Honestly I'm not blown away by their prospect pool but I could see Jake fitting in pretty well there for them to have strong interest in him. |

I just want a somewhat steady vet to play in front of Stolarz for a year or two. Bishop worries me a little because he always seems to miss some time which could put Stolarz in a rough spot. I'm really not wow'd by any of the UFA goalies to be out there though. |

My view is that the current GM is a former goalie, who I believe doesn't get the team in the playoffs next year is open to being replaced. Would it surprise me to see him invest a little more in that position, nope. Who? Don't know, but the slop between the pipes is unacceptable.
If you have above average goal tending, a team is more then likely going to make the playoffs, irregardless of offense. Granted, the last 2 months of this teams shooting % would put that to the test. He needs to get the goalie situation resolved first, IMO

nhl shows it's penguin bias once again with touching penalties called on plays against crosby and manning's hearing |

The Manning hit is literally the exact definition of interference.
I mean it's not even close how much of an interference call it should have been.
I think the hold occurred before the Crosby play. |

Also the head was the principal point of contact. I believe he is going to be suspended.

Same. Enough with the 1/1A idea they've been running with the last two years.
I'd even be fine with Mason or Neuvirth being the vet starter with Stolarz as the backup. I think the team in front of them will be better next year and that would be a fine goalie situation.

This is ridiculous. We aren't trading Jake...he is the one elite forward we have and we will never recoup fair value. Timo Meier? If we traded Schenn for Meier+1st, I'd get behind that. I like Meier a lot. That seems fair. But not Voracek. I love how it's Jake we jump to, and it's to actually give him away to some random team, what we get back be damned. Besides Schenn, we have maybe the most valuable trade asset that could actually be traded in the league, or one of them anyway, who isn't signed longterm, but he's untouchable. |

to be fair if you're trading jake, it would be pretty foolish to not trade simmonds as well |

Keep all the best guys.
Draft 10th for next next few years because you can't handle a few more losses then wonder why you can't get over the hump.

I'm not particularly interested in moving Voracek or Couturier unless the deal is just too good to pass up. Schenn, Giroux and Simmonds though, are guys who I'd be listening to offers for.
edit: saw ep 2 of Legion, loved it. Hoping to watch #3 later today.

I really don't like the lead actor in that show. He just bothers me for some reason. |
