Regardless if it is the coaching or not....if they continue to not grow, espeacially the young guys, then the coach won't last.
- landros 2

theres a possibility he may be good for the development of young players, but poison for veterens, who knows?
christ does anyone remember when Hitch was here?
he was the opposite, but, do not stray away from his defensive system, or else.
I made my point about Statsny, Steen is another one, he said no comment when asked about Hitch, Tarasenko also didnt like him.
it is what it.

It doesn't matter whether we care what they get back. Look into the situation and understand how difficult it would be to trade Giroux now.
- MJL

Fine.

Look at trading Voracek, Schenn and Simmonds.

Tear this mother (frank)er to the ground and fully commit. I don't buy that they will find the required star power up front drafting 10th and basically being the Leafs for years.

I agree with Hextall but I want him to rebuild fully. This is a half ass approach.

Absolutely. Hakstol has had a poor season himself. Me thinks he will be on a short leash next season.

I want them to tank. Highest picks as possible for a few years.

Hak helps in that.

Giroux is faltering.

Nostalgia is keeping some foolish hopes alive of a return to form.

Nothing personal, just my thoughts.

- flyer_nutter

how were the Penguins under that last coach?
They didnt do so well, and yeah, a lot of issues with certain players.

but its never the coach ever.

I don't think he's tradeable. Maybe....maaaayybe the vegas team?

Might as well hold onto him. If he rebounds to a form we saw 2 years ago, try and trade him next year. If not look at a buyout.

Simmonds is the kind of piece that could move us into an entirely new direction. He could get the flyers a top 5 pick or the top prospect on a lot of teams. So if I'm Hexy this summer I'm looking at that.

the GM will not admit to hiring a mistake. He made a huge deal out of this guy.

Do you honestly believe that a coach can change a player from a top player in the league, into a player who is currently tied for 305th in the NHL in 5 on 5 points? Andrew MacDonald has the same amount of points in 5 on 5 play as Claude Giroux has.

The return would have to be right in order to do it. Flyers are in a tight spot for sure. I do think a trade of a top player should be explored. I just realize that just calling for it is not an automatic cure.

In my opinion the GM does not believe that he made a mistake. If he felt that he has, or that a change needs to be made, he will not hesitate to do so in my opinion. Hextall's job depends on it. Ego will not cause him to put his own neck out.

What's alarming is the lack of forward help on the way. It's Lindblom next year and that's it guys. Watching the phantoms game Sundqvist a roster bubble guy for the pens was clearly better than any phantom forward...not even close. Laughton is still making poor boneheaded decisions in his own end and while NAK is a nice player I don't see him being ready next year. It is bleak on the forward front.

i guess everything can agree on being 26th in the league on defense, and a team save % of 89% never helps the cause regardless.
Getzlaf & Perry are on the same offensive decline, and do not have 3 scoring lines like the Rangers, but no one is calling them the problem a Anaheim.

Yes, and the center can forecheck.
When have you last seen Giroux on a breakaway?
How often do you see us employ a stretch pass to a winger, or anyone to keep the opposing defense honest?

- puckhead17

Ghost and Provorov have made some nice stretch passes. Most often you are going to see the wings on the receiving end of a stretch pass

Agreed

He has no jump in his skates anymore and he's become a total perimeter player. When was the last time you saw him physically knock an opposing player off the puck? He often looks like he's just coasting and going through the motions and if he's not hiding an injury, that is very worrisome.

- BiggE

my concern is that its not an injury but just a not so big guy worn down. what I am hoping for is its just the hip injury takes more time to be completely back to normal so while he is able to play, he isn't quite himself.

I'm.going to post this as much as possible until it changes.

A small, non physical, team lacking speed and skill with awful goaltending.
That sums up this collection of stiffs perfectly.

- PLindbergh31

Good idea. Do it on every page. This way Hextall, who I'm sure visits this site often for your ideas, will see it.

Philadelphia’s Brandon Manning will have a hearing tomorrow morning for interference on Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel.

Suspension!

That would be the dumbest move they could make.

They need to have seasons worse than this one. As painful as it will be.

of course a center can forecheck. its not about the position as much as who is first in on the attack and the second in.

Add Coots to that list though I think Simmonds and or Jake could get you a nice return.

Schenn and Coots not nearly as nice..
