everytime we have acquired a major player over the years, there is always a period where it seems like it isn't happening
the Shatty thing now reminds me of the Rick Nash stuff around this time in 2012
rumors were crazy that Nash only wanted to play for the Rangers, remember when Columbus came to town and the crowd was chanting "we don't need you"
it didn't happen until the summer
but, if they had pulled off the Nash trade at that deadline, maybe we beat the Devils?
you never know
As good as this team is this year, it needs another piece in my opinion, and I felt that way in 2012 |

it's one of my worst moments as a fan of this team
top 5 worst singular moments for me as NYR fan
1. Ken Morrow - 1984
2. Alec Martinez -2014
3. Adam Henrique - 2012
4. Claude Lemieux - 1986
5. Ron Francis - 1992

Although implications werent nearly as bad as any of the above, the Ovi goal w like one freakin second ledt when Boyle had the puck.... |

I think when we win a series, if there were bad moments in the series, it makes it that much sweeter

Although it was followed by the Matteau goal & pure joy, the Zelepukin goal w 7.7 seconds left Game 7 vs NJ 94 was absolutely gut wrenching for that hour + till it was over. |

That's the 7 yrs, 45 million dollar question. It can't be a top 9 guy for a rental. I'd do Fast/Lindberg, Gropp/Graves and #1...it's that's not enough we'll get him in the summer - Slimtj100
That's a huge overpayment. Rather wait until the summer. |

First thing I thought of was the Nash extended trade discussions that seemed to linger forever.
There are three days left to deadline. Prices could rise or drop. For others, he would be a rental, save for maybe Boston, if we are to believe his desire to be on the East Coast. New Jersey is basically out of playoff contention. Toronto may not want to part with the young assets for him. Philly is out of contention. The concern has to be Pittsburgh, especially if they move MAF, who I don't see going to St Louis, and due to their ability to put Maatta or Daley on LTIR to free up move cap room.
The poker game is on, who blinks first. Shattenkirk turning down those extensions means he has a clear place he wants to play. Plus we are assuming that the dollars are a main driver. Given what he turned down, maybe they aren't. Therefore, go the seven years at a lesser AAV to bridge the difference, which frees up cap room. Especially if the CBA is revisited again in five years. |

ultimately, I think at 3pm wednesday Shatty will be a Ranger. I think it gets done at exactly 3pm.

I'm gaining more confidence that the Rangers will land Shatty now rather than July and I don't believe Buch will be part of a trade, I think it's going to be 1st, Klein, Graves and either Gropp or Halverson |

I also think they will add a different forward to play the 4th line with Lindberg and Fast
I don't think he likes Buch, Puempel or Pirri there and doesn't like Hrivik or Jensen much there either
could it be Burrows or Ott? |

2/26/17 | 9:15AM: Bruce Garrioch writes that a sign and trade likely won't happen with Shattenkirk and that the "belief" is that he will sign with the Rangers next season. (Ottawa Sun)
Veteran hockey writer Jim Matheson tweeted "Folks in NY. Shattenkirk will play with Rangers long-term if traded. This is no rental so NYR would have to give up lots"
On HNIC:
Nick Kypreos said: "a lot of teams are thinking that money isn't the be all end all and that he is truly trying to pick his spot on where to play next season..."
Elliotte Friedman then said: "Rangers"
Kypreos and Ron MacLean both laughed and said "Rangers" |

I think most of us are in agreement to go for it this yr last yr just felt different like they never had a shot especially when they had to play Pitt in 1st round who was on fire.I dont want lose any top young guys on roster but They need to make 1 or 2 moves to help pp and maybe someone with an edge to his game. |

so much better this year
one of the big differences is that Brady Skjei seems to be in the role that Keith Yandle had and is so much better all around already than Yandle was. Yandle was as soft as snow.
Skjei has a grit to him that's just awesome |

Doesn't matter, it's the Rangers. They only win as much as we see Halley's Comet.

I almost threw my tv out of the window when Henrique scored that OT goal - 21peter
I was at my buddies house watching the game on his 5' TV with 4 Devils fans. I finished my beer, got up, said congratulations, and walked out to my truck.
I knew nobody was going to beat the Kings that year, so losing the conference final didn't bother me. Losing to the Devils did. |
