It's the greatest thing for hockey news (and most news) ever.
Wonder what the "emergency" is. - eichiefs9
not sure havent seen any reports but at least we can hope weight wont put him in the pressbox to get acclimated. maybe the emergency is we are shipping out strome or nelson to land a player and need him in that spot till a new guy gets here? also i listened to the ipb podcast and graziano said ho sang will never see a game with the big club, wrong, and barzal should be moved because he only has 9 goals and all his points are assists! he then said whats he going to be an adam oates tops..........does he mean Adam Oates the nhl hall of fame player......wow

I heard the same from SNY Upstate. These are the guys who think Bailey is a superstar and defended Cappy for the longest time.

orokin Shuts Out Jokerit, Advances in KHL Playoffs
Ilya Sorokin recorded a 25-save shutout as CSKA Moscow advanced to the second round of the KHL playoffs with a 1-0 OT win over Jokerit.
The top-seeded CSKA swept Jokerit 4-0 in their first-round series, with CSKA winning three consecutive games in overtime. Sorokin - the Islanders 2014 third-round pick - allowed six goals over the four games, stopping 18-of-19 in Game Two, 29-of-32 in Game Three and all 25 in the series clincher.
Sorokin finished the series with a .942 save percentage and a 1.33 goals-against average. - Upstate_isles
He is talented but he does play for the top club with the top d probably. Not the Isles top 6. Nevertheless he will be good and unlike DP, he is used to the pro league and pro training routine.

#Isles are flying to Dallas today, that's why JHS was called up today.

#Isles still talking to various teams, I'm hearing. JHS recall doesn't mean a deal is imminent or that they're standing pat.
His twitter feed is @66jhosong??!! Don't tell me that!!! Noo!!!! - niteislander
look no one wears 66 in a real game, it should be retired league wide like 99 as he was just as good. probably more talanted too just hurt more. wearing 66 shows up 91 and you dont do that unless you have huge balls

Anyway, nothing immediate on trade front for #Isles with about 29 hours til the deadline. Lots of time left. - eichiefs9
After reading todays Newsday article i'd be overly shocked if Garth pulls of a trade of any magnitude. The "getting three players back, is like bringing in someone via trade" sentiment spoke volumes.

Look I dont know anything but reading between the lines I believe hes there in case they make a move. lets say we offered nelson pulock and a 1st for duchene, once the trades made we are short a forward till duchene gets here so you bring ho sang along. I think garth is working hard to land someone

I think it's exactly this. The simple fact that they called him up tells me that Snow at least things there is a better-than-50% chance that they make a move by 3pm tomorrow.
Otherwise, like Burke pointed out, they would have just kept Bracken Kearns around. I think this is insurance against trading a rostered, top-6 forward. I think Snow is all-in on Duchene and busting his ass trying to get it done. It may not ultimately happen, but I get the feeling he is working hard on this one.

Interested to see if Garth Snow goes big game hunting. Oilers say Eberle isn't moving. Duchene is a good fit for Isles...1/2

Colorado needs a young D as part of return. Hamonic might not be right fit. Duchene is eager to move. Still tough to make work now. 3 way?
The only really interesting thing here is Dreger saying that Duchene is "eager to move". - eichiefs9
Regardless of any possible trade with Colorado or anyone else for that matter that might include Ryan Pulock........I think the handling of Pulock from this organization has been abominable. If the isles traded him, whatever team he went to, he'd be in that lineup and a mainstay on their PP. With the isles organization he's not been given a shot (no pun intended), yet he's got tremendous upside. More offensive upside potential than any other D.....
I think its clear that Duchene is a great fit for this club......and im sure they made an offer. But, if Sakic is looking for the sun moon AND stars, then i dont see the isles budging. Im all for paying up for Duchene, but i dont think any trade should include both Pulock AND Barzal.

I agree. I think if a trade does not happen it will not be from lack of effort. You have to think something could get down around Hamonic, Nelson and a 1st whether that's for Duchene or someone else?

He played in all of their playoff games until he was hurt, I think it's a stretch to say he's been "mishandled". He was the first call-up this year but, unfortunately, broke his leg like 10 minutes into the first period. He missed a lot of time and by the time he was healthy the Isles were rolling and he needed to be playing top minutes.
It may not have been optimal, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he's been totally mishandled.
