If youre not willing to give up a roster player, what makes you think the Flames can even make an offer the Avs would like?

Not to mention his salary wouldn't fit this year.

Acquiring Duchene is a win-now kind of move. I don't think Calgary is there just yet. As nice as he might be, the asking price would be severe.

Elliott's last 9 games

(frank) MAF

- flashfire

I was at the game yesterday afternoon. Elliott looked like he was fighting the puck all game long but at the end of the day only let in one. That said, if they were playing a higher caliber team a few of those pucker-factor plays would've gone in the net. There was one shot from about the face off dot that looked routine but he didn't catch the puck, it dropped, he couldn't find it, and the Hurricanes almost jammed it in.

The defense bailed him out pretty much all game clearing pucks and people. And Staj with the headsave. That was awesome.

This is interesting!! Thanks for sharing that! I still believe Evander Kane is on the block.

Fits the mold of winger with an edge. (Might not be worth the problems, but when he does grow up, watch out)

I don't buy into if BT gets a young guy with some term as a win now type play. Where we are drafting is a crap shoot and if we can improve our team with young players than why not?

I say this all the time Gio will not be as good in 3 years. It's not a win now mode but it's not sit back and see what happens.

It's not really an apples to apples comparison. It's pretty clear Bishop is a rental, and the Penguins actually think they'll win a Cup this year.

Does that make MAF worth more in a trade or less? I think his cap hit probably makes his worth less than a FA like Bishop. Not to mention Bishop has better numbers.

Evander Kane is tempting. A lot of the teams that have won the cup have reclamation projects that have come around. If you can get him for somewhat cheap I almost say go for it. But there is also the possibility of him causing major problems. He is the kind of player that a GM would have to put his head on the chopping block to acquire.

Simmonds would be a stud, great leadership. Everything you look for in a player.

Gio will not be as good but still should be a 3-4 Dman. You hope he go's the way of Markov. Look at what we are paying Wideman to be the 7th!

100% agree. Worth way less. Cap hit is for another 2 years. But that might be enough time till a guy like McDonald/Gillies could be ready.
