I agree Dallas cannot pay 50 percent on Niemi contract.... But if Dallas buy's out Niemi and sign another goaltender... Bishop or Elliot for how much? and how much would they have committed to next years goalies in that scenario? 12-15 million?... (2 for Niemi, 6+ for Bishop, 5.8 for Lehtonen) That's worse then this year!!!! Trading Niemi/ Oduya for Fleury/3rd round pick allows Dallas to keep their spending on goaltending to 11 million (or less if the Pens retain) and gives them a starting goaltender.

I don't think Dallas will go after Bishop. He's 30, has had a bad year until recently, and will want big money over at least 4 years. I think Dallas will pass.

Elliott could be an option, but only if Dallas misses on their other targets. I think Elliott will be cheap. Could even be a 1-year deal to try and rebuild his value. He's had really bad year.

I think Dallas will target Grubauer, 25, Raanta, 27, or Darling, 28, before going after a 30+ goalie. They've tried that already. Didn't work so well. Elliott could be the back up plan if they miss out on these 3.

Dallas has 17 million coming off the books in free agents after the season. Money won't be a problem, but I'm sure they'd like to trade Lehtonen or Niemi if they can. I just don't see it for Fleury though. If he was having a good season, maybe, but bad year+contract+age probable means Dallas passes. I like that you added the 3rd and possible salary retain though. That makes it more plausible.

Oduya is coming back from an ankle injury tomorrow. He'll play against the Bruins, and then you guys on Tuesday. You'll get a good look at him before the deadline. If you like him, and he's healthy, a 3rd might do it. Maybe a 3rd, B prospect, and Fehr for Oduya and Dallas retaining salary. Maybe something along those lines. Depends on the interest in him.

Is that not what they ve been trying to do for a year??? What???

No way Elliot signs for one year....

Pens don't need a goalie or a trade! They are a cup contender and if all else fails MAF can be bought out! They ve nothing to lose! MAF is better then either of your goalies... If M. Murray did not emerge as a top 5 goal tender this conversation does not take place....

Darling's a free agent, and the upcoming expansion draft will cost Washington Grubauer, and possibly New York Raanta, if they don't trade them. Dallas could also work out a deal with Vegas to draft one of them and trade. Also, Dallas will be much more willing to buy out only 1 year of Lehtonen or Niemi instead of 2, and they should be more easily tradable.

Like somebody else said yesterday, we need a goalie that qualifies to expose. Buying out MAF works but it's doesn't give us a goalie to expose in the expansion draft.

On another note, I hate out defensive game right now. We need some players back.

Dallas doesn't want him. You keep him. Buy him out. That's 100 percent fine with Stars fans. Only reason I'm on here was to point out Dallas will never do Niemi, Oduya, and salary retained for Fleury.

They both suck!!! To whom ? For what?

And yes backups will be available! What will be the Stars cap hit on goalies with Lehtonin or Niemi , a new goalie and Niemi or Letonin bought out?... Answer... more then Fleury and Lehtonin.... If Niemi is moved (with nothing retained) he is gone... period... Lehtonin plus Niemi Bought out is 7-8 Million before you even sign a goalie!!!!

That is fine... Dallas still has 10 million plus invested in terrible goaltending... if the Pens are willing take one and give back Fleury who last year and the year before was an above average goaltender why would n't they do it? Pens are doing Dalllas a favor.

You keep him. We don't want him. Trade him to Calgary. Let them take the risk. Maybe he'll return to the goaltender he was last year. Maybe he won't. Don't do us any "favors". We'll try one of the younger backups, who have better numbers, over Pittsburgh's older backup, who is expensive, and has numbers similar to our terrible goaltenders.

If you look at the numbers from 2014-15 and 2015-16 (Till Fleury was concussed that is not so)... Fleury was the Pens MVP in 2014-15 and really solid till M. Johnson was fired last season. (actually kept them in the season)... if you have no interest in Fleury cool, but please don't pretend that either garbage goaltender the stars have is even close since 2015... Peace!

Yeah. No Flyers fan should ever rag on Crosby for embellishment after that. That was pretty bad.

Dumb to be an 8 o'clock start. Going to be a boring game anyway since all outdoor games are slow anyway. Putting me to sleep. Was glad to see all 30 of Train's fans by the stage

Kari Lehtonen career numbers- 2.71 GAA 0.912 Save percentage
Kari Lehtonen this season- 2.86 GAA 0.903 Save percentage
This is playing for two terrible teams most of his career. He's played in 19 playoff games.
He's terrible. I can't stand him.

Marc-Andre Fleury career numbers- 2.59 GAA 0.912 Save percentage
Marc-Andre Fleury this season- 3.16 GAA. 0.906 Save percentage
This is playing for a good team most of his career. He's played in 100 playoff
games.

Do you see a clear upgrade? Do you think Dallas should trade for him? What happens to his 3.16 GAA and 0.906 Save percentage playing behind a worse defense in Dallas?
