Is there any lineup news?

Letang? Shultz?

No 58 tonight. 4 is a game time decision, but sounds like he is going to play. MM will start in net.

Member when there actually was rivalries in sports? Well rivalries in hockey. They died around 2013ish. When you push out the players that actually make rivalries hard to have a "Rivalry".

No Bonino either. Hagelen and Hornqvist with Crosby, Kunitz and Kessel with Malkin.

Not sure you guys can risk not trading 1 of your goalies if you want to capitalise on what you have. What's cheaper (I have no idea), buying out 1 of the goalies or retaining salary in a trade with another team - not taking back another goalie? Then finding that team to trade with is probably the real question - who wants either of your goalies? Even for a back up when as you say there are other choices.

I think you guys would benifit from trading for Flower. It will eliminate a few problems straight away, but as you say, better trading Oduya somewhere else to maximise the return.

Retaining 50 percent would be about $560,000. Buying out Niemi would cost 1.5 million over the next two seasons. I would assume there is zero interest in Niemi or Lehtonen around the league. They're terrible. The risk is Fleury. I think he's definitely better than Lehtonen and Niemi, but he's 32, and really struggling. Lehtonen is 33, and has 1 year left on his deal at 5 million. Niemi is also 33, and also has 1 year left on his deal, but at 4.5 million. Fluery at 32, with 2 years left at 5.75 million. The age, the big contract, and the extra year are the risks. Are Fleury's struggles just having a bad year, or has he hit the age where the decline has started? Who knows. As much as Dallas wants to unload either Lehtonen or Niemi, I think they've had enough of older goalies.

I think it's the same thing that kept him out of last game. Rowny is in his place with Jakey and Wilson.

So Fehr still doesn't get to take over Center on the 4th? I'm a fan of Rowney, but they just don't want the best out of Fehr.

Other option is Fleury to DAL for Oduya (3.75M UFA) and Niemi (4.5M 1 yr left). Oduya coming off ankle injury, could return Sun vs Boston. DAL would likely need to retain 50% on Niemi to make it digestible. PIT could then buyout Niemi (after expansion) for minimal cap hit.

No way does Dallas make this trade. Not only would Dallas be giving up what they could get for Oduya from another team, they also have to pay half of Niemi's salary, and take on the risk that Fleury, at 32, is just having a bad year. On top of that, Dallas gets to pay 5.75 million for Fleury the next two seasons. There is Zero chance of this. Dallas can just buy out Niemi themselves, get whatever they can get for Oduya before Wednesday, and go after a younger goalie like Grubauer, Raanta, or Darling. Even if Fleury ends up being bought out, his next contract will pay less than 5.75 per year. Calgary's the only chance for Pitt to trade him, and that's because they are in a playoff race. Fleury just doesn't have much of a market. Bad year, 32 years old, and an expensive contract, are a bad combination.

I agree Dallas cannot pay 50 percent on Niemi contract.... But if Dallas buy's out Niemi and sign another goaltender... Bishop or Elliot for how much? and how much would they have committed to next years goalies in that scenario? 12-15 million?... (2 for Niemi, 6+ for Bishop, 5.8 for Lehtonen) That's worse then this year!!!! Trading Niemi/ Oduya for Fleury/3rd round pick allows Dallas to keep their spending on goaltending to 11 million (or less if the Pens retain) and gives them a starting goaltender.

The lineup I saw says he's not but you could easily be looking at a more reputable one than me. The one I saw was posted on Facebook.

The black pads look fantastic.
Who's defense is worse? The Flyers might actually be worse, AMAc on the first pairing, Hainsy on the first pairing playing the wrong side. Toss up. Nothing is worse than the girl butchering he anthem though.

32 is nothing for a goalie... Miller just had a fantastic season with the Canucks... how old is he?... I would draw no comparisons from Lehtonen to Fleury. Fleury is in fantastic shape... he just plays better in a starting role.
