No one wants to shell out money, however If they cant get a replacment for Fleury before the deadline, they will not trade him. Lemieux doesn't care about a small cap hit, every round of the playoffs is worth 3 and up to 10 million in revenue to them. IMO They will not jeopardize this playoff run even if it is 7 mil and a cap penalty of 2 over the next 4. Its a small price to pay knowing if you have some goalie depth, if Fleury is traded and Murray goes down the playoffs are over for them. I do think something will work with Fleury and one of Calgary's goalies... I just dont see Pitt throwing anything in. - nelson911
What if they could get Mike Green? |

Oduya is really bad, like Scuderi bad now and Niemi is trash too. Getting Johnson and Wideman is not much better but it is better. Anything is better than more Oleksy though and Rudeweasel. |

Winnipeg isn't touching a goalie. Hellebuyck is being protected from Vegas, so even if they weren't 100% confident in Helle, they aren't going to trade for a goalie so Vegas can take him right away. Paul Maurice needs to go.
Side note: anybody want Myers? Throw us a half decent lefty on the back end and he's yours. But you also have to take Stuart. - Rexypoo
I'm certainly not gonna tell you what your team needs are
I do think Jets fans have been hard on Myers. Not saying he's awesome, maybe expectations were to high on him. Bogo has been a dud in b-low. |

You can keep Stuart but Myers would be cool. We can give you your choice of Steve Oleksy or Ron Hainsy. Myers would be better than anything we have been hearing around here. |

Perhaps I misunderstood you. It still, who takes the risk here? If we swap you Elliott for MAF The possibility exists that MAF could continue on the downward slide and be terrible for the remaining 2 years on that contract until one of our kids is ready to take the net. And if we can get a separate asset for Wideman, maybe that'd be better for us. Who knows. I wouldn't be too upset if that's how it went down. - TandA4Flames
Bishop, Elliot and Miller are not signing two year deals... Bishop and Miller will also want a higher AVV... Fleury makes sense from that perspective...
Your wrong about Fleury last season and the one before, he was very solid till concussions derailed his season... M. Murray stole the job from him, kid has been a top 5 goalie since the end of last season |

Murray was phenomenal against the Hurricanes, I hope he can continue to play at that level. |

Oh, I really like Myers. But Trouba is gonna be expensive and we don't need Myers as a bottom pairing guy. That "offer" wasn't a slight on Myers at all, I wanted Stuart gone and a decent partner for Postma on the 3rd pairing. |

Myers for Hainsey and Pouliot? Wait, is that a real player? Whomever 51 is. The kid you all hate. I totally forgot his name. |

Really, you think Pens Ownership would want to write a cheque for about 7.7 mill & carry a cap hit of about $1.9 mill per for the next 4 years to pay a goalie so they can play against you for another team? Buyout should have to be the absolute last resort right next to deciding to basically move Murray for a humongous return. IfJR doesn't move Fleury somewhere where he can play & keeps him on the bench the remainder of the season, Fleury could basically force this buyout & block any summer mover to Vegas.
Teams don't try to help each other in this league, they like to throw anchors. I think Flames have every reason to ask for additional compensation if they were to take Fleury on. Just saying. - Kevin R
MAF is going to be difficult to trade, period.
As much as everyone on here loves to talk about it, the Pens simply do not buy out contracts.
I disagree with the assumption that teams throw anchors at each other. Most GM's look for the best deal available, true but they understand that you have to give to receive.

Gryba could be a solid pickup. He'd serve as a nice grocery stick between the group of competent forwards and competent defensemen the Pens ACTUALLY have. |

Certain individuals have taken it upon themselves to take things to a new level then make claims that they are victims as well.
Perhaps it's just one individual though
