Wiese and Gordon aren't euro's. - PLindbergh31
No but we knew what they were....I mean guys like Raffl, Bellemare and Lyubimov...I would hope one would have skill or could actually bring something offensively. Like (frank).... |

Those trades were dead on.
A team identifying a mistake with its core and that it's not good enough. - flyer_nutter
I guess what I'm getting at is....
When will we be that (frank)ing team!? |

Remember when people thought we won the Richards/Carter trades...Im convinced I'll be retired (I'm 28) before this team wins a cup. - IvanBrovorov
This is a joke, right? Mike Richards doesn't even have a job anymore. |

Regardless of LA's cups I still think the Richards trade was a home run trade for us considering how Richie's individual play took a major nose dive. Carter trade is hard because Carter has been a strong player for LA for years and Coots/Jake are constantly up and down.
I feel no better or worse in regards of seeing a cup. The current team is not fun to watch but they have some nice pieces and have an actual farm system for once. I hope in 3-4 years they're firing on all cylinders. |

They have a rats ass chance in hell at winning anything for the next few years.
Please though, let's keep anyone who could bring back some assets for that future because we can't stand to lose a few more games.
This organization can stay in the status quo all it wants and live in the dead glory days with your alum nights. New fans see through the bullpoop.

Not a joke at all. Do I think we win a cup retaining Richards and Carter? No. But for the last couple years a vast majority of people have thought the flyers made out on the trade. LA has won 2 cups and we're arguably further away from a cup than when we started. At the time of that trade Simmonds and schenn were building blocks...Now we're tossing around what we could get in return for either of them. |

Hey, I just want to keep Simmonds and the young D pieces. If anything makes sense with anyone else I'm all for it honestly. |

Well, I DO think he can revert back to his 1.5 p/60 5v5 career norms. His PP ability is not league best, so it could balance it out, and we still get our 50 points Schenn. Which is fair value. And he might be our 2C! *cough*
I just see a player whose weaknesses line up with the teams, who is on a 3 year contract, whose value could never be higher, and who could net an asset or two that this team more desperately needs. Schenn's value is as an average 5v5 scorer and slight possession drag (we can forget this year, as it's only fair for everyone else), and plus PP player. And I think his PP production is replaceable, especially with Lindblom coming in. And his 5v5 production is absolutely replaceable and then some. So, it could be a case of the PP production is a wash, while upgrading elsewhere. That's how I see it. He was always signed to be a quality placeholder and stop gap, and then eventually traded/not resigned. - Mononoke
He may. I'm just not too confident for some reason. And like you said, his value may never be higher.
Would you look to move simmonds this off-season? He's another player I feel is at peak value. As much as I love him, idk if I'd be willing to resign him for the term and dollars he'd likely command.
Maybe I've drank too much tonight |

Hang on!
This sounds like excuses for the Carter and Richards trades. Nothing more, nothing less. Excuses! We won those trades. The Philadelphia Flyers can trade one of Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn or Sean Couturier and get a decent package back. We could trade get Wayne Simmonds and get an upcoming roster player and a first round pick back. We won those trades regardless of what the other team has done. Jake, Simmonds, Schenn and Coots are doing what Carter and Richards couldn't do. Carrying this team. |

Dude, we could trade any one of Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn or Couturier for whatever we want right now. We did win those trades. |

Any? Voracek and simmonds I'll give you them for arguments sake. In my opinion schenn and couturier were expected to be top 6 play drivers and sorry I just don't see it happening. They just aren't consistent. So to say you get whatever you want for them is a joke. |

See, tonight I can Honestly say I enjoyed the game and I feel like my team played hard. Were they perfect from shift to shift, minute to minute? No. It was another night of questionable coaching decisions. Regardless if you care about the winter classic or any stadium series, Hakstol has to be aware they're coming. He shouldn't want to be embarrassed. The players shouldn't want to be embarrassed. The fans. The organization.
Unless you have Martin Brodeur in his prime, play your goalies. Right now we're unsure about both guys. The deadline is coming. Make decisions like you have a clue. Like you watch the news and read the news paper everyday. Do your job like you have a clue.
I thought we played well tonight. I just didn't like the tactic. The strategy. The approach to tonight's game. I understand stand Pitt has first change, Ghost and Streit are a pair and they were scored on first by Sidney Crosby.
To me the only difference between Berube and Hakstol, Hakstol doesn't answer questions like a former enforcer/meathead. - SuperSchennBros
Yeah Ghost got a -, but Streit completely blew his assignment. It's cool Streit, just let Crosby post up at the side of the net. You take the guy in the slot instead of Neuvy.

If they can package Schenn with the pick they get for Streit and get a true, offensive minded 2C and cement Coots to being a shutdown 3C I think it will go a long long way to fixing things. Then use our 1st for the best forward available. - hereticpride
Id rather have Schenn and Bellemare then Coots. Coots is flat out just not a good hockey player. |

Dude, we won the trades if the players are still the gifts who keep on giving. LA never traded Richards for anything and they can't, he's gone!
Jeff Carter wasn't even traded to LA from Philly. He was traded from Columbus from to LA for Jack Johnson who isn't that great a defenseman.
I know it's easy to speak from the bottom of your beer on a Saturday night but there is no question we won the trades. |

Regardless of who we'd rather keep and what players can return in a trade etc etc......It's safe to say this current team licks sack. With that said, goodnight and God bless! |

I would rather have couturier. I think if placed in sane spot on pp as schenn he could do just as well. |

Youre entitled to your opinion, but I respectfully disagree. Coots has been given the chance to be an offensive player. He's just not. I'm also not sold that he's fantastic defensively either. Also, the 10 game win streak; a lot occurred while he was out. The putrid hockey has taken place with him in the lineup preceding the 10 game win streak and astonishingly began again shortly after he returned. Coincidence? Probably, but I do find that interesting.
Schenn is asked to be a 20 goal scorer who has physicality. What has Schenn been? A 20 goal scorer who has added physicality. He actually supplies what he is paid to do more than Coots. I just don't understand the Schenn hate and Coots love. The dude is an average to below average hockey player. |

Wrong as always. Mike Richards wore the "C" but everyone remembers Danny Briere's 30 point preference centers Scott Hartnell and Villie Leino. |
