With Leivo's play maybe the guy that has become more expendable is JVR. While most of the season I've leaned more towards attempting an affordable re-sign, my stance has probably changed.

After Eaves commanded a second you have to think JVR, or ideally JVR at 50% salary should land something substantial. I like JVR and see value in him staying, but with Marner coming back it would free up the logjam on wing and move an asset at peak value.

A Bozak trade is better suited to the off-season. The center depth is weak and forcing Nylander to center late-season playoff push could be a mistake. If the goal is Matthews, Nylander, Kadri down the middle he can have all off-season to prepare for it.

Bozak at 50% salary would have to be attractive in an overpriced UFA market.
