I think duchene is 50% gone, Landy isn't moving IMO - DDM-Coga
I don't think either go anywhere. MacKinnon, Duchene, Landeskog, Barrie, Zadorov, Rantanen is a pretty good core to build around, with Jost coming soon and a top pick in this draft why stir the pot now. Try to dump the older players and hit the reset button. |

That was the Oilers of a mere 2 or 3 years ago. Wouldnt a simple plan of avoiding players that dont fit in the long term plan, letting contracts expire and stockpiling picks amd prospects turn this around quick? A top 2 pick would help this year as well but I dont see how trading Duchene helps much. - Larsson_fan
If their vision is to build something 3 years out. I dunno maybe moving Duchene makes the most sense long term.
So the rumour of the Ottawa talks is that the principles discussed are Ceci, Colin White, 2017 1st. If that was it, the trade would have been done by now, but sounds like there is more involved.
However in 1 offseason you move Duchene out and bring in Ceci, Colin White, draft Callan Foote or Nicholas Hague at the Ottawa pick, and draft Nolan Patrick or Nico with the Avs. Plus there could be more coming from the Sens....
Thats a big shot of youth, its tempting |

I think thats Plan A, but if a trade comes along that wows them where its too good to be true, I think they take it |

They will have a lot of cap space coming into next season. And if they can get rid of that tomato can Beauchemin, then they dont have to start blowing everything up.
Soderberg and Beauchemin contracts stink right now |

Spencer Martin seems to be a legit goalie prospect. AHL allstar this year, he has sneaky similar numbers to Matt Murray when he was developing down there. Rampage are in last place as well, and have been a dumpster fire but when you look at his underlying numbers, its promising
They can't (frank) that one up, he might be a stud |

Crazy how the Avs and the Flames ,who over the past decade have been mostly Dog poop, dont seem to get the same amount of attention for being awful franchises as The Leafs,Oilers and Sabres. |

Avs and Flames have made the playoffs in those years when lumped together. They get a bit of leeway bc of it.
Avs winning a division, Flames going to the 2nd round....unwarranted bt it helps |

Colorado never went full blown tank mode like the Leafs/Sabres. Oilers get the attention because of the #1's they got, and of course generational McJeezy. |

Yes, but because they just plain stunk. Fair or not, the perception is the Sabres and Leafs went out and as an organization deliberately lost games.
Oil picked #1 three years in a row and 4 times in 6 years. You are going to get some attention for stinking when that happens. |

Sure but you asked why the Leafs, Sabres and Oil got all the attention for being poop. And the perception is the Oil pick first almost every year, and the Sabres and Leafs go out to intentionally lose.
Calgary/ Colorado mainly fly under the radar (as did the Panthers and Isles when they had similar streaks). It's the difference in perception. |

True, and fans are idiots that only see the surface. I should know this from years of battling (frank)tard trolls on here. |

no only 3 times. 1-2-3, and 2 10th overall picks, and a 23rd (traded 11th overall to Wsh for Varly)
They didnt have the 4 1st overalls, 3rd, 4th, and 7th that the Oilers did, so they get as much heat. Avs picks were all over the map and lottery picks have been spread out over the years, never back to back |

no just saying the facts my man. You asked why Avs dont get the heat the Oilers did.
1 Canadian media, lets be honest here, but 2 on the surface their years have been up and down and never looked as terrible in consecutive seasons |

Thats exactly who I think of when I think of the Avs rebuild. They had a group of high picks and couldn't get the job down. Blew it up a bit...moving out Jay-Bo, Horton, etc and restocked with a new blood of Top picks. |

I didnt say it was a Scandal, you made your own conclusion from that.
It was just funny that 2 days before that news comes out, Gudas left practice with his sticks in his hands. I just assume he found out a team mate knocked up his sister and he was pissed. Flyers say he had the wrong practice time or something stupid like that. But come on man, Flyers love banging each others GFs/Wives/Sisters. Its the law there |
